Hi,
Thanks for being interested in buying my Custom Huebler Chess Cue and Matching Custom Huebler Wooden Case .
I will start my email by telling you that I'm currently out of country so pick up isn't an option. The pool cue is as described, in perfect condition and will be delivered at your home address. Total price will be $950.00 and the transaction will be made only through eBay because i am not in the country anymore and this way it's safer for both . Right now I'm in United Kingdom, just arrived here 3 days ago. Before I left I found a buyer and I had everything arranged. I paid for the shipping and almost sent it to him. But yesterday the buyer that I had asked me to wait another 4 weeks because he suddenly had other priorities and he is out of money for the moment. I can't wait this long as I'm in United Kingdom for 3 days now and i really need the money, I am in the moving process, changing the work place and everything. A major issue is that if you want to buy my pool cue you really need to have the money ready for it.
If you are interested reply me for further instructions on how will you be able to get possession of the pool cue .
I am waiting for your answer.

Warmest regards,

Huebler

Sure looks real. We're fortunate to have an expert like you here Terry. Was wondering what tipped you off. Wonder what his/her address is. Someone over there should pay a visit. Thanks again Terry.

I was looking at a Josh west from the same person with the same excuse. she wanted me to go to a Western Union and send her the money. she said the cue was being held by eBay for her until it was sold. I actually called eBay to see if it was legit and they said they had no transaction number for the product. after contacting her and telling her that I contacted eBay I never heard from them
again.

She sent me an email in a response to my query about the Model M as well.

Interestingly I found my Model 20 is currently for sale on another auction site in the UK.

I considered bidding but decided to pass since I already own it. OTOH I suppose shipping would be reasonable since it wouldn't be going very far.

Good luck Jay, I won't bid on it since I know you're interested
You can try it out first, returns will be a little easier, and you don't actually have to pay for it.
It's like getting the same Palmer twice, only better.

I originally took those pictures when I sold this cue six months ago or so on eBay. It's a scam for sure.

Wow!

My guess is they aren't in the UK at all. This has been a real education. Time for the internet police to get to work.

Actually......

Most of the internet scams "out" themselves by making it obvious the offer is fraudulent through the tone and/or content of their response and/or by using copies of pictures from prior ads or internet posts.

Some aren't aware, but you can save a photo to your computer and do a Google image search by uploading that same photo. You may get an exact hit for the real ad posted by the real owner, or discussion in a forum that included the real photo.

Buying via the internet isn't necessarily foolproof, but there are a few precautions you can take. For one, it goes a long way to ask questions and judge from the responses whether the seller is legit. Another is to ask for additional and -specific- pictures to see if they have the item in their possession. There is also an older technology, the telephone which allows you to actually speak to the seller. Another safeguard is to pay through PayPal designating the payment is for goods and services. And then there is eBay which offers their own protections.

These observations and advice are known to many but maybe not all. Hopefully it helps.

Actually, there are quite a few Ebay & Craigslist scams out of Europe.
Ebay must of made it too tough for these guys to hijack accounts, so they've gone to Craigslist / others, still using Ebay as a guise.
If you remember back 5 or 6 years ago we were always seeing hijacked accounts on Ebay, selling pool cues already owned by an Azer.
Not anymore, but we used to have fun picking them out.

Me thinks that in regard to "Ms. Nancy Graham", that "she' is a he. Pretty common for scammers to use a woman's ID to increase the trust factor.

This is just a scam. They use a fake URL setup to look like ebay.

ebay-purchase-order.com

They have you send a moneygram or a similar no recourse type payment (i.e. western union, green dot money pack, vanilla reload etc) Then after they get your money your screwed. Craigslist is filled with bullshit ads by these scammers who try to get you to buy all kinds of collectibles from comic books to pool cues. Each time they use pics from legitimate items taken from forums and ebay.

These scams include things like apt rentals. My buddy was needing an apt in tampa. He sees on craigslist a place being listed for real cheap. Through email the "landlord" says go see the place...its xyz address. So he goes and the place is there but closed. Its an empty house but he can see the place through the windows. Excited, he emails back and says he will take it. "Landlord" says well four others want it, if you send me a deposit through WUnion ill hold it for you. My buddy calls me and asks me what I think. I told him to Google/Zillow the address and sure enough it comes back as for rent and there is a phone number for the rental agency. He calls and they know nothing about this.

Basically, anytime you are asked to pay for something via money transfer with a complete stranger, you should just go ahead and grab your ankles and get ready, because its gonna hurt.

Look at this crap from a recent Tad Kohara cue on craigslist. I was curious to see what the dialogue would be like so I shot them a few emails.

ok let me know

Nancy Bower 12/13/13 to me
Hi again,

Doing this transaction trough eBay will be safer for both of us, because we are covered by their eBay Buyer Protection Program.
This Buyer Protection Program guarantees that the cue is exactly as I described; basically, once delivered, you'll have 10 working days to inspect it at your home and if you decide not to keep it you will get refunded in no time and they will charge me with the return costs. If the cue meets your expectations and you want to keep it you will have to tell them to release the payment to me. If you are interested in this purchase please reply me with your full name and shipping address. After that i will pass your details to eBay and you will receive an invoice and further instructions on how will you be able to get possession of the cue .

Warmest regards
Nancy Bower

A friend who lives in the Uk has offered to go pick the cue up in person. He told me your listed address on eBay is fake. Can you prove you have the cue by taking a photo of it next to a uk newspaper from today. I might still send through money gram but I want proof you actually have the cue.

Nancy Bower 12/14/13 to me

What??? Who told you that my address is fake??? Check it with google maps. The cue is in US, is not here th me in UK. Right now the cue is in the custody of the shipping company (FedEx) and it's waiting to be delivered. As eBay told you, you will not send me the money . You will make the payment confirmation to eBay's agent who is in charge with our transaction. The agent will hold the money until you will receive and inspect the cue. If you are satisfied with the cue, then the agent will release the money into my account. If you don't like the cue, he will give you the money back.
Do you understand?

I am waiting for your email!

Thanks,
Nancy Bower
