Big foot

Well the players need to find a backer for $1000, against a killer field. It's always been roughly like this from what I remember. Half killers, half a hair under the killers, and 1 or 2 A players to fill the field. Our own Fatboy played in the first one or two, when he was putting up the added money.
Eric played in one ring nine ball game at the EW.

It was after that, that he added money to a small field and it was called “The Fatboy”.

He got pushed out after a couple of years because…we don’t need to go there…Diamond took over the tournament and then Diamond came out with the 10ft table that was going to be in all the pool rooms in the country 🙄 so they switched the tournament to that. If you remember, they had a contest to name the table/tournament and “Bigfoot” won.

No, Eric (Fatboy) never played in his eponymous event. There was some joking about the possibility, but he didn't play.

Greg Sullivan (Diamond) also began adding money in 2011.

And, as stevelomako says above, the 4 Fatboy events (2009-2012) were on 9-footers rather than 10s.

It’s sad that that the pickings are slim for finding Americans (all countries) that have a Fargo high enough to compete.

With that said, FSR and Alcaide are missing. Someone from the Albanian crowd could have filled in too. There is always another Filipino…

I know it’s tough to travel but this isn’t chump change in these events.

@Fatboy played in the first 10-ball Ring Game, if my faulty memory doesn’t fail.

Or maybe he played the banks ring game… oh crap…it’s failing me.

There's 35 players 750+ in the US. 800+ is only four and one of them is basically retired.

I know the first few were 9 foot (maybe even 9 ball?), but it was effectively the same tournament: The cream of the crop in a 16 man single elimination, 1000 entry field. Fatboy added 5k or so to each, then Diamond took over, made it 10', etc. I could have sworn Eric played in that first one that Efren won. But maybe it was the banks ring game.

In any case, there were a few years were A players and not top pros had a spot or two, to the best of my recollection.

The Fatboy events were all 10-Ball. Corteza won the first one in 2009; Efren won the second in 2010. The fields consisted of the first 16 to sign up, i.e., they were not by invitation. But the fields were still all good players.

I started a thread in 2015 showing all the money winners from the 10-Ball Challenge events at the DCC and the Southern Classic, and I update it each year: https://forums.azbilliards.com/thre...10-ball-challenges-past-money-winners.387852/

Holy bejesus

What happened to this event? Used to boast almost whole field of 800+. This year miserable only half the field are 800+. And a 600+ in the field , probably the worst Bigfoot field ever. No offence to 600+ Max Adams, he must be a nice guy but he has no business being in this field ("no offence" or "with all due respect" are probably most common phrases you throw in after or before you "knock" someone. Not sure which is commonly used. Usually you also throw in an overused compliment like "nice guy"). Last year field was equally poor except it did not have a 600+.
The recent International Bigfoot event had far better field almost all 16 were 800+ and top prize money $8K and entry fee $500 there were half of this event

My guess is Filler to win this over Gorst. Filler just has that extra killer instincts wants to win more badly than Gorst who looks like Ghost or deer in headlights when he is up against the really elite players- no offence to Gorst fans :ROFLMAO:

We used to get a Who's Who of the world's greatest players, any one of whom was capable of winning. Alas, no more.

I put up half the added money for four years. Greg put up the other half.

I remember him playing in a 10-ball ring game, him and one other dead-money dude played for fun and from what I saw on the stream they had a blast. More power to amateurs stepping up to compete with the pros. :D:D:D
