How many people go to big tournamnets that they have no chance at winning? I've been thinking of maybe playing in the Derby just for the experince in playing in something like it. Anyone else out there as crazy as me?

Never been to the derby, but have donated to a few tournaments. It's something that you don't get to experience often. I am actually planning on going back to one next year to donate again. I figure, maybe I'll get an easy draw or two, get lucky a couple times, and maybe win a couple games/matches. You can do it!! :withstupid:

Percentage Maybe Higher

Hey Fast,
#
Perk is really close to the number.

I guess that 85-90 would B closer to the actual #.

I played in a great one pocket field here in california in April
and I would say that 80-85 percent of the field of 64 players
really had no chance.
However it was a cheap 100 dollar entry fee so it was worth it
4 me just for the experience.

So go ahead and find a strong pro field tournament and play in it.
U might get lucky and play a world champion for cheap!

Wish I could of been there for the 1pocket. I figured the Derby would be the most fun playing 3 differemt games.

If you can afford it , do it by all means. If you enter banks or 1 pocket you will get your money back in free admission. I think most serious players would kick themselves later on if they passed up the opportunity, also, you never know what the future holds.
The Derby is a lot of fun imo.

If you have the time, screw the money. Go for it. Hope you do not get Efren in 1st round!

Well if you are going to Derby you might as well play because you would have just as much $ invested paying to watch each session! So for the entry fee you can play and get the admission for the time you are there...

I play in the Turning Stone event every December and its one of the biggest pro events of the year. I dont really think I can win it but I do it to lock horns with some of the best players on the planet!!! Plus im in town for the holidays and treat myself as a form of entertainment.

Really enjoyed trading racks with Raj Hundal, Karen Corr and Dan Basavich while warming up. Pretty cool feeling when you look to the table to the left and see Mike Davis torturing some local. Then you turn to the table on the right and you see Strickland drawing a bead on the 3 ball.... Yeah.... It feels pretty good :thumbup2:

That's what I have been thinking.

The Derby, Of Course!!!

Hey Fast,

So glad UR gettting the picture. Wish I could go 2 the Derby and play in the banks and one hole. You could play with the best and like JJ and others said the spectator fees would amount to the entry fee so go ahead and have some fun!
I have a friend that plays back there for the past few years and he loves it. Of course he has no chance to win any money however he likes to rub elbows with all the great players.

Good Luck at Derby
