I hesitated about starting this thread but my heart of heart knows that poolactiontv.com deserves the recognition.

Some of us know how much Ray does for the pool community but I doubt that most of us do.

This guy travels all over the United States of America, providing Live Stream Broadcasts for those of us who love the game, but are unfortunately sitting at home.

I know LiveStreaming pool isn't a lucrative business, at least not at the moment but I try to support poolactiontv.com whenever I can.

This weekend he will be down deep in South Louisiana at Richochet's in Houma, LA. As soon as he leaves there, he will be driving to New Town, North Dakota for the 4 Bears Casino Event. That's dedication to our sport.
I don't know how he does it but I am thankful that he is involved with our sport and provides the service that he does.

If you want an eye-opener, just click on this link which is Ray's SCHEDULE and you'll see just how much he travels. Scroll around on the months and check out all of these events. I know from sitting in the booth and talking with Ray on numerous occasions that he does it for the love of the sport and not for the money. I'm sorry to say that I could never do what he does for the little pay that he "earns".

The drive from Houma, LA to New Town, North Dakota is over 24 hours long, ONE-WAY.

I'm thankful for his dedication to our sport and his desire to continuously improve his products and services.

He promotes pool tournaments.
He sponsor players and tries to help them promote themselves.
He advertises pool rooms and their events.
He advertises pool industry products and services.
He reaches out to the industries outside of the pool industry to obtain their involvement with our sport.
He even has a willingness to promote other live streams as well as his own and has done so on more than an occasion or two.
Ray also consults with pool room owners about how to improve their events. He's got a lot of experience at it and does a great job.

One day, maybe he will start making enough money to buy a new vehicle to travel on these long trips and pay off some debts. In the meantime, show BigTruck a little love if you haven't already done so by checking out his website, schedule an event, or purchase his Premium Membership for a year's worth of PPV Live Streaming and more, and or buy some of his products or just send him a note thanking him for his efforts.

If you want to see pool elevated, consider having your local pool room, live-stream their next event. If you have a league championship, consider having poolactiontv.com come down to your state championship and LiveStream that event. His rates are far less than what most people would think. Give him a call to discuss the possibilities.

If you can think of another way you can help Ray to continue doing what he does for pool, drop him a line or give him a call at 254-379-2569 and let him know your thoughts.

In thinking about Ray's contributions to the sport, I relate the quote from Rudyard Kipling's poem Gunga Din:
"Tho' I've belted you and flayed you,
By the livin' Gawd that made you,
You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!"

In closing, Ray Hansen, I thank you for what you do for pool.

You are a credit to pool and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

I watch and support his online events as much as possible. These guys do a great job, with little/no pay, to support our sport and they really are under appreciated! If everyone watching these streams donated a dollar every time they watched, I bet it would help out these people greatly! We pay $30 for chalk, thousands for cues and $40 for tips....Donate a couple bucks to insure we get to view great pool and these guys can continue to provide it!

Tank,
That's a cool idea. Does he even have a donation button on his website for people to donate using paypal? I'm headed there in a minute to see.

If he's got one, I didn't see it. I wonder how many people think he should have one. On one hand, I don't think he should have to depend upon people paypaling him a dollar at a time but the thought is good, even if Ray doesn't have a donate button that is easily seen.

He provides a good product and earns his money. I'm not sure if a donation button is the best solution to compensation or appreciation.

Thanks for suggesting the idea.

What Pool needs is Promotion "Pro Motion".

Big Truck also takes part in some worthy causes like this one in Texas. When I was touring in the 90s these type charity events were happening at every major tournament. What Pool needs is Promotion "Pro Motion"....Ray certainly stays in motion and that's an admirable quality.

I was hoping he did, but I couldn't find one. So I bought a patch instead. If they are nice, I might order a few more. I enjoy watching the big truck streamed events very much!

Great post Joey. The best deal on the planet is Ray's premium membership. I just renewed mine and its worth every penny and more. Your right he does alot for pool that takes time, money and certainly a ton of energy. I know my game has gone up alot from watching his streams.

I don't think he does, but you can buy stuff from him and he has the subscriptions and stream purchases. But I agree, every streamer should have a donate button. I know Lenny and Daniel do.

Is it feasible for Big Truck to offer two versions of the same stream? A free stream at standard definition, and a premium at HD quality that can be shown on a 30" or bigger screen.

Bigtruck!!!

Ray Hansen!
Don't even know where to start!
Great guy and great promoter of the Sport!
He started advertising and marketing for our Company without us even knowing about it. Now, to me that is dedication and love of the Sport!
He includes our logo on everyone of his shows and emails to his fan base and new customers. He ever airs our commercial for us!
We have created his own TAB on our app for him and we promote his events by posting flyers, dated and info on the website and App as well!
People keep saying that we need to unite and help each other to promote the Sport, but I think we need more "Rays" out there.
The business of Live Stream doesn't make any money. lots of traveling, room and board expenses and equipment expenses and just sitting there at times for 12 -15 hours at a time... You will run out of spit!
We thank you Ray for your hard work! And for love of god, can you please put a donate button on your site. I couldn't find one!
Keep up the good work and we will do our best to support you and promote you from our end!

I am on the road traveling and only have my phone right now.

I was really touched by Joeys kind words. I really appreciate it. Thanks to everyone who has supported my efforts to promote this great sport and the many fine people involved.

Hopefully I will make it long enough to repay everyone that has been a part of it. Now back to setting up the show.

Ray doesn't utilize the Donation button and won't be using it at least not at this time. If others wish to help out, consider purchasing the PPV Live Streams or some of his other products as you mentioned.

I'll tell you this. My pool room Buffalo Billiards in Metairie, LA purchased the Premium Membership and it is awesome. Local players get a chance to watch some of the best players in the world at Buffalo Billiards, every time poolactiontv.com has a LiveStream. If things get boring, Ray has plenty of recorded matches for their viewing as well.

I really don't understand pool room owners not purchasing the PPV Live Stream because customers LIKE IT and it builds interest in our sport. Customers stay around longer, especially when their favorite players are playing.
Pool Room Owners can build customer good will and interest with the Live Streaming on one of their sports tvs.

Ray just started out his rather long trip from Houma, LA to New Town, North Dakota.

Go to Google Maps and ask for directions from Houma to New Town.

Ray let me set in with him for commentary during his show at the Brickyard. What a class act! Puts on one of the best streams in the business. It was an honor to enjoy the matches with him.

I can tell you this, people do not realize how tiring commentating can be after a long day. Not to mention all of his set up and break down time. Ray is dedicated beyond belief.

I truly believe live streaming is one of the keys to the future of this wonderful game. So to Ray and all of the other dedicated streams out there a BIG thank you!!!

Ray,

If you read this, I am having difficulty signing in to your site .. john_oleson@comcast.net thx
Ray recently updated his website. Check your email associated with poolactionTV and look for the email that gives you a temporary password. Look in your spam folder if you don't see it lol. If you have a membership, you should be getting their emails, and one of them has a new password -- I believe a few weeks or so ago.

My email with that info was Dec 29

A 10 year old thread revived and well-deserved. www.PoolActionTv.com still one of the best live streamers around the world. Congratulations Ray Hansen.
Agreed 100% Joey, they deliver a lot of great 1 pocket content through their streams. I have been a 6-month subscriber since Ray started offering that option many years ago. With Terry Hannah providing support they are a top notch outfit.
