Bill Mielke

Bill Mielke is a alcoholic. Hes a day laborer that drinks his paychecks down over at this bar i play a tournament at on Friday nights. Hes hella cocky and pissed me off last friday with his crap that he pulls.

Anyway, I was just thinking of him. He is still a lights out shooter. And wins almost every friday when he plays.

I heard he used to be one of the world beaters back in his day and got in a lot of heat because he owed a lot of people money.

I was just curious if anyone had any stories or any thing about Bill.

I used to hang out with Bill in Arizona back in the 80's. They used to call him Houdini. The better the bud the better he played. I could tell some stories, but it is best that I don't. Man, he played good!
 
Bill Mielke is an old buddy of mine. Originally from Wisconsin. He was a real strong workmanlike pool player. Nothing fancy, just get the job done. Kind of like George Breedlove today.

Bill beat a lot of good players, just by wearing them down. And they kept coming back for more. They all expected him to wilt at some point, but he kept right on getting out.

PLEASE tell Bill I say hi to him. I really liked this guy!
 
I have heard his name mentioned in more than one circle here in Milwaukee. Definitely had game based on what I had heard.

He generally is a nice guy. Just got some issues for sure.

Its weird thinking that he was such a known player and now hes always at this little indian dive bar 24/7
I don't know if i should feel bad for him or not. I guess to each his own.

I wish i could have seen him play back in the day. He is still fun to watch.
Still Solid as a rock though. Runs out perfect from any where.
 
i have seen him fill up an outdoor size trash can with empty beer bottles and still run through players...and i mean strong players. he is fun to watch, thats for sure.
 
My experience with Bill was not a pleasant one. We played a race to 9 and I got on the hill with him still at five. He wins a game and moves his coin to six and then I realize my coin was back to seven.

We don't forget when we're on the hill. When you're racing to nine and your coin turns the last corner you know thats eight. We argued for a good period of time and with the sweaters that had side bets confirming that I had eight. It's hard to fool a dozen spectators but he tried. I was so hot that I just pulled my money down from the light and quit. Not worth the aggravation.
 
I have not heard Bill's name in a while. He is a friend or aquaintance of mine. Helluva a player at one time and more knowledgeable than most would have thought.

He always liked to party a bit and I am sorry to hear that maybe he is partying a little too much right now.

How long as Bill been in AZ??
Last time I saw him he was still living in Alabama.


Bill and I used to roll craps alot. His luck was pretty bad. Another buddy and I came up with the saying Mielke roll based on his ability to hit a prop
bet one roll later than the bet.
Bill was alot of fun.
 
I saw him beat Terry Romine in milwaukee back in the seventies. Romine had him six to two going to seven nine ball for $800.00. Terry was getting pretty loud on the hill but missed the eight and never got back to the table. Very impressive player for the cash.
 
Please tell him Billy from Ohio said hello.
We used to play gin rummy when I lived in Mesa.
His back was messed up, but every once in a while, you could tell he could really play, at one time.

Played Bill in a Floyd Baxter tourny in Thomaston, ga. in the eighties.Drank like a fish and kept going to the bathroom with his girlfriend and it was obvious what he was doing. It was about two o'clock and everybody was gone. We were in the finals. Got frustated and quit.I was mad as hell and told him so. Played so slow and just kept smilling. Never respected him sfter that.
