Billiard Books Bibliography

For anyone who might be interested, there is a bibliography of Billiard books by Robert Craven also a more recent work by Guy Huybrechts and another titled Das Billiardspiele. If anyone has any others please feel free to add them to the list.
The billiard book collecting world is pretty small but there are opportunities to find interesting books on ebay and through the book dealers.

"Billiards Without a Master Michael Phelan" {There is a reprint available}
"Billiards" Walter Lindrum

The bibliography by Craven is fairly brief and has some errors. He lists 550 books on 40 pages. It is "Billiards, Bowling, Table Tennis, Pinball, and Video Games -- A Bibliographic Guide" and was published in 1983. I see a copy on Ebay right now.

Dieter Haase is in the process of updating his "Das Billardspiel -- Eine Bibliographie" which originally came out in 2001. Unfortunately he is not including new pool or snooker books -- his main interest is carom. He lists 2000 books (including various editions of some titles) on 380 pages and has fairly full bibliographic information including known locations of copies and some illustrations. It is written in German, but it doesn't take long for a non-fluent reader to figure out that Sprache means "language" and Auflage means "edition".

Gary Clarke published "A Billiards and Snooker Compendium" in 2008. It includes only snooker and (English) billiards books, but it has a descriptive paragraph for each book and an estimate of value based on Ebay and other auctions. It has about 270 pages and some illustrations. He seems to be selling the last of his stock right now on Ebay.

There is a reprint {Dover Publishing} of "Thirty Years of Billiards". It's the only one I have. I've seen the Lindrum book but it wasn't interesting enough to me at the time to purchase it.

I think far more interesting than the book by Lindrum was the book about Lindrum's life by Andrew Ricketts. Bob Byrne has a review of it in one of his books and shows Lindrum's tombstone which was the shape of a table.

He is still gathering info such as publisher and pages for new books as well as corrections to his previous bibliography. I'm in the process of sending him a list of what I have, but the cataloging is going more slowly than I had hoped. I will probably send him pictures of the important pages of "new" books that he doesn't have easy access to. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe next June.
