billiard shooting glasses?

I'm not sure if I should just scrape it off and go with it, or not?
It comes off pretty easily with a fingernail.
I don't think I would scratch them that way?
I hate to wait till Monday when I could be using them tonight!:(
It would have been nice if they put some kind of instructions in with them!
do not scrap them ROFL, not needed, use aceton . damn ink . essilor 's inks can be verrrry hard to remove. i dunno why.

your supplier is really lazy ... progressive lenses need to be cleaned prior to be delivered , the markings are for quality control and cutting. not for the final users. damn lazy opticians :))))

LOL. Them are some of the wildest glasses I have seen. Maybe from the future,,,a proto type and accidentally sent to you.

They could be the key to the universe,,,I seen it on transformers!!!:rotflmao1:

But really I have never seen glasses like this before. And do not wear them. Is the idea to get the frames out of line of sight??

Snooker players have been wearing them for many, many years. They're just new here in the U.S. I bought mine in 2007.
They're very nice at the pistol range also.

My wife says that "nail polish remover" is acetone? Is that correct?

yes , that works too. be carefull , do not put it on the frame. on the front side of the lens only please. (if they are in polycarbonat, they don't like aceton to be used on the side. only the front and back sides are coated = protected.)

can you see the micro laser engraving on your lenses ? i am very curious to know what symbol is at the nose side ( you'll find it on the line in the middle, exactly at 17mm from the cross, but on the line which is 4mm under) . it's done to identify the brand and model of the progressive lenses.

Yes , the lenses sit very high, they go well above my eyebrows!
and the way they are ground is so I can see in the pool table range clearly, as in, when my head is down and I am looking up.

I can't see anything in that area.
To tell the truth, I'm more scared of using the nail polish remover than using my fingernail.:embarrassed2:

have confidence , pal. aceton will work , when not use white spirit. not nails ( can be verrrrry hard using your nail lol) .
that's how we (professionals) remove the markings on the progressive lenses .
(i'm optometrist in a huge optical society )

Could "white spirit" be "white vinegar" ?
There are a lot of other ingredients in with the "Nail Polish remover". I would rather not try that.

no, ROFL (my english sucks, damn :( ) : Stoddard solvent it is. (or also called "mineral spirit" ?? ) .

Oh, Mineral spirit! :) I might have some of that around.
Another question? What do you use to clean the Mineral spirits off the lens?
My fingernail sounds better and better! lol
I'm more of a "get 'er dun" kind of guy.

Yes, they are progressive. I got them from billiard-eyeglasses . com . (leave out the spaces)

They were a little over 300 with all the bells and whistles.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into it and also pass it on to a friend.

For years I've been just taking my glasses off. It has made for a bigger target down table, a little fuzzier but bigger. lol At one time, oh about 15 years ago I wore monovision contacts to play. But after a few hours I would get headaches. I stopped playing altogether for about 12 years starting in 1998 and when I picked it up again I still take my glasses off to play.

If it were me, I'd definitely wait until Monday and contact the vendor about cleaning the "template" off the glasses. My glasses are progressive and I've never had that situation. I don't see why you'd have to clean them and I'd be putting the illness back on them. At least let them advise you as to how to properly clean them.

Those are interesting.

I just got glasses for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I was really looking forward to shooting with them but the top of the frames are in the way. I was pissed off!

Let us know how they work.

If you want a pair you don't need to go through Canada and mail order. Any eyeglass guy can make them up for you probably for much less. They are only a half frames with over size lenses. If you show a picture to your eyeglass guy or show him the web sight he will know what to do right away. I have a pair of frames i modified myself and had my prescription put in. Mine sit up high and tilt so when I get down on the ball I am looking straight through the lens. What a difference, I hadn't seen the balls this good in 20 years and I was on the verge of quitting. The glasses are like magic.

I got a pair from the Canadian guy. I am from Canada. I did go to a couple of shops. Both optometrists told me to pick just about any type of frame I wanted, they would modify them to a half frame. By the time I would have picked even a cheaper frame plus the prescription, it would have cost me double the amount than from Billiard Eye wear. Canadian prices are most likely more than in the US so this was my best option.

I normally wear a progressive lens but got the single vision for $170 shipped. However, they do work great for long shots but they
can make the close up shots a little blurred and wondering now if I shouldn't have gone with the progressive.

I say toss em and learn how to properly strike the balls without a crutch that will hurt you in the long run.

Since when did vision become a crutch? You try and shoot pool squinting or with yours eyes closed for that matter. It sucks!

Real glasses I understand, but glasses with lines and dots all over the place like those are just plain silly and detrimental for one of many reasons.
