Billiards Babe

I do not look at NPR .That is why i would like to see this thread placed in the NPR section.Apparently you feel that wanting to read a billiards forum for technical information and pool theory etc is off base?If I want to learn I should take a lesson? Who stamped your visa? You state I added my own bit of childishness to the mix....clearly you have not seen a photo of Bianca Beauchamp! There is nothing childish about her!!!Somehow you actually believe this thread "is about advancing the sport".Were you dropped on your head as a child? This thread is complete fluff. It serves no purpose other then to reflect individuals feelings regarding advertising and marketing concepts as well as give individuals with personal disputes a public forum for dropping their pants.Banish this nonsense to the NPR section where opinions spring up like mushrooms in a cow pasture after a hard rain.
if we don't figure out how to better advertise and market pool, pool will continue to be the abused step sister of poker and bowling. This is pool related, you are wrong and now you have degraded yourself to personal attacks.

Sex sells. It's everywhere. I'm female, I'm not offended. Then again, I like seeing pool in the media and if it's b/c a female struts her stuff, so be it, or if it's b/c she plays good, so be it. Separate or together, I don't mind, b/c it's making it in the media. :)

By the way, JAM, I as actually a bit disappointed in this because when I read your post and clicked on the link I was expecting to see some skin. hehe!!

So you were hoping to see some skin huh? Isn't that what the "dirty" avatars provide?

AGAIN...

I never stated that Jasmin used sex to sell pool.

The thread took some twists and turns.

I did state that the avatars on this forum with women in sexually degrading positions were not pleasant in my opinion.

Please let this post right here and now state that I never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never said that Jasmin in the article I posted on this thread was using sex to sell pool.

I cannot explain this with any more clarity.

JAM
Saying the word "never" four thousand times in repeated posts seems a bit much, especially when you request that certain readers re-read entire threads to understand your points of view. I am sure most of us got your point(s) by now. For those who have not, they never will.

Wouldn't you say that all the members of the WBPA play well, so that means that any one who "struts her stuff" have the whole package so to speak?

ah no reading a billiard forum is a great place to get technical info, it is also a place to exchange thoughts, ideas, and opinions on the entire world of billiards including improving the sport as a whole, not just our own game. if all you are interested in is gaining technical knowledge then just taking lesson is a good idea. if you find no value in this thread then just dont participate. since you have no idea what goes on in the NPR (non pool related) then how can you suggest the mods move it? this thread is pool related, although i do grant you that it does not contain any technical info. this forum wouldnt be the great forum it is if the only threads available were "how would you play this shot" or "having trouble with my draw". those ARE great topics, but not the only ones of interest. if a thread doesnt interest you, you dont have to read it or participate in it.

"Were you dropped on your head as a child?"

not that i know of (although it could explain a lot:) ) and there really is no need to be insulting either. so again the "childishness" rears its ugly head"

Dear Ben,
I guess since Elvis is dead, you get to decide who is right and who is wrong. Please use your power wisely!Ben.....If Bianca Beauchamp could string together 5 racks of 9 ball Pool would be the number one rated sports show on television and not"the abused step sister of poker and bowling".(I can't believe you would actually say that phrase in a conversation)I find it difficult to believe that you believe AZB can fight back the forces of poker and bowling. Ben , you have accused me of degrading myself via personal attacks.I'll have you know that I have been married for over 30 years and you can't hurt me! Please reserve your opinions and judgments for the NPR section.
Sincerely
Brian

Don't take it as an insult.Pocketspeed it was a question generated by your original comments.I admit I have glanced at the NPR section.Shame on me . I do not read what is written there because of the thread titles.I have found some value in this thread. I now know that "jam" and "corvette" dislike each other and use red squares to inflict emotional harm.I have learned that since Elvis is dead, Ben gets to decide who is right and who is wrong.I understand now after reading your statement that if I am not interested in reading a thread I have the power not to read said thread.Good thing you pointed that out. Most important I have discovered that insults come in many flavors.Forgive me for not hiding behind the "implied" flavor insult.

are you serious? the only way to take your comment is as an insult and we both know thats exactly how you meant it. you should really post more on the NPR b/c there posters insist on having their own way, insist that their opinion is the only correct one and freely insult each other all the time. you sir would fit right in. or maybe you should try to be one of the mods, then you could decide what was fit for the rest of us to discuss here on the main forum. i really dont know why you continue to post in a thread you dont have an interest in (except to throw insults around). hope you have a great afternoon. i'm out

Nice, you come on here with your whole 48 posts and expect to be god. You have contributed nothing of value here. Why can't AZB put their minds together and find a way to make pool bigger? We have so many people on here from different walks of life with different talents.

Ben

Pocketspeed and railfirst
It is clear that my postings caused you both to be upset. Do you not see the humor in all of this? How can you actually take this nonsense seriously enough to be offended?Should you not be able to take it as well as give it?I half suspect that the 2 of you stomped your feet and made lippy faces as you finished typing.Relax, it is a billiard forum. Ben if you promise to not decide who is right and what is of value I will not respond to anymore of your posts.Pocketspeed, if you agree to grow a sense of humor I will not imply that you were dropped on your head as a child.Ben, a little sense of humor would'nt hurt you and it just might help find a way to make pool bigger.I did contribute something of value when I suggested Bianca as a spokesperson for all things good in the world.

Please ask the Moderators to move this thread to "Non Pool Related"topics. There is not one piece of technical and /or informative information about playing billiards or pocket pool throughout the entire thread.Merely using the words"billiard" or "pool" in a thread starter does not make the thread about either game. This thread seems to be about personal preferences relating to acceptable advertising and marketing concepts with just a hint of childishness thrown in for bad taste. At least if it were begun or moved to "NPR" I would not have seen it.Where is Bianca Beauchamp when you need her???

Who the hell is Bianca Beauchamp anyway?

oh really looks dont count?

Would you go up to a dirty ugly toothless person and treat/talk to them the same as you would a good looking person? I think not. While it may not make a difference in how THEY act it certainly matters in how OTHER act towards them.

For what it's worth? Yes, I treat everyone I meet with the same respect.

sorry, have to disagree with you here. look at the topics over on the NPR and you'll see this doesnt belong there. in fact this thread is all about pool. if fact its central to pool. if you want pool theory, techniques etc take a lesson. this thread is about advancing the sport. helping grow the sport in popularity and what the right way to do that is. it started out with jam posting something about one of pools young rising stars and whether or not jamsin was being exploited and lead into a large debate about what should be acceptable in marketing the sport. see it was all about pool.

btw i did note that you decided to add your own bit of "childishness" to the mix. hey its alright, we are all children at heart (or we should be).

just out of curiosity while "sex sells" seems to be offensive to some when female players are involved, would anyone be offended if cory or svb suddenly became sponsored by hanes and started appearing in ads playing pool in there boxer briefs?

just curious (or the heat is getting to me;) )

brian

Tried to rep you but said I've already done that...but I haven't.

Tap tap tap...if this isn't about pool, just what is it about, bowling? Marketing is the highest value and deserves the most thought and action if pool is to become a profitable sport, imho.

I'm just saying looks are our first impression of others and looks do matter. I'm not saying we would necessarily treat ugly people bad or with no respect but we do treat them different it's just human nature.

Mully even though you're ugly I would also respect you :D
I'm just joking Mully you're one major hunk. Is it ok for guy to say that to another guy? LOL

Take care.

Hey, I think I recognize the background of this picture, but I may be wrong.

Isn't this Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York, the place where the cigarette smokers hang out? I used to smoke, and smokers know these kinds of things. I spent many an hour outside in the "smokers lounge" at Turning Stone Casino.

Jasmin turned WPBA (World Professional Billiard Association) Pro in 2007, and that year took 2nd place at the San Diego Classics and 3rd at the Enjoypool.com Open in Las Vegas.

She's just a young'n, 22 years old, and yet, she's accomplished more in her pool-playing career than a lot of veterans.

She looks too tough in this picture. Look at that killer instinct in her eyes!

JAM
"Killer instinct in her eyes"

I think she is just trying to look tough on a motorcycle for the photo. I think it's called "posing", although I could be mistaken.

No Future

Pete Margo once said (There is no future in this game)Pete was fortunate, he saw opportunity, took it, and did well for himself. Not your typical players ending in life. Of the millions of players worldwide maybe a few squeak out a living. For the best of the best yearly earnings equal just about LUNCH MONEY in todays society. Unfortunate for such a wonderful game and the talent it takes to play at a high level. I would love to see the day where players (Not a few players but many) can afford to pay a mortgage, two cars, vacations, bills, support a few kids, clothing,.soccer, baseball, hockey, dance school, art school health insurance.etc.etc.etc. I don't see that day coming too soon.
You don't see Tiger Woods networking on a website offering lessons. You don't see Derek Jeter putting his own roof on his house. Even the less talented in their sports do very well for themselves.

I respect all for trying to bring pool to a different level. For every one good person there are a hundred scuzzballs, Do THE MATH and look at past history. If anyone should know this it is the author of this thread.

If it takes Jeanette Lee and Jennifer Barreta having sex on a pool table, with Jasmines pic in the background on a Harley while Earl is watching, holding his Cue in his hand, barking and doing some very weird stuff..SO BE IT. It's 2008

If it takes sex to sell then sell it.If it can put the game of pool where it belongs with all other sports,,,sell it. If it can pack a stadium with 50,000 people, nationally televised,,,,SELL IT. All the venues are small time, always have been compared to other sports.
I agree that pool and should be recognized for what it is,, it hasn't happened. Bless the players from past to present for playing a game they love for little or no reward.
History has proven there is no future in pool, and as of present there is still No Future in Pool.
