I lived in Key West in the 1980's. There was no shortage of dirt balls down there, who always seemed to be looking for trouble. And drugs were everywhere, too.In the 70s I used to play in key West a lot. There was a lot of action down there in those days. You had to be careful of locals though. They often carried guns and always knives. I remember playing in the Boat bar one night.
The guy I was playing looked like a pirate and was wearing a sword. It's funny, I had a player from NY with me and he was scared to death. He would not stay and I had to drive him back to Miami the next morning.
Great memories of the keys. One night I was playing with Peter Fonda and Warren Oats and Margo Kidder was also there. They all went out to my motor home and were smoking pot. You can find the movie they were making on Roku. I think the name was called 92 in the Shade. The bar we were playing in is the movie. The Cow Key Marine bar.
