Wanted to announce, we are releasing a iphone/iTouch app to the apple app store with in a few months. " Billiards 101". We are taking comments and suggestions at www.finnbogg.com there you can view a prototype demo of what the app will offer. ( again its a prototype demo.) We are still working on graphics and such. We want to provide the user with a useful tool.

It will provide:

1. Various practice drills right in the palm of your hands. " no more printing our paperwork and bringing along books to the pool halls with you.

2. Listing of Instructors in your area. " Including a link to the " Instructor Search page at the Billiard Congress of America site.

3. Also links to many other well known sites and providers to the sport.

This app will continue to be updated with features and listings. And we hope to expand its use to cross platform devices such as Blackberry, Android, and the newly released iPad.

Again feel free to stop by our site and place questions, comments, and suggestions.

I travel a lot - what would really helpful is listings of where to play in various towns and cities across the country with addresses and phone numbers.

that's an awesome idea. cant wait to check it out. dont have an iphone yet but this is yet another reason i might pick one up.

Can't wait for it to come to android I will pay for it and I normally don't buy apps because most of the lite versions is the same but with adds

Is there an app for real time input and tracking VNEA league play? Or BCA or any other national league?

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions so far. keep them coming. And for the person seeking a pool hall. there is a app called pool finder or pool hall finder. it uses your gps location and lists what close to you . We are hoping to incorporate something like that in this app in a later release.

Will the bottom menu (icon - DRILLS - LINKS - CONTACT) be available on every page? That could make navigation easier.

For example, if I click DRILLS, then Freshman, then Drill 1, it appears that my only means to navigate towards the top of the tree is to click Back.

A drill and explanation of tangent lines mite really help out people that want to improve there game but are just starting to play to improve and not bang balls around

pS
I can't wait for the android release

I think something that MUST be added us a blank table you can place balls on. Man the one ball was over here, I had to kick 8 rails, like this, I hit the one and hooked him behind the 4, then he kicked it in and made ..................

this sounds like an app thats going to be very useful to me! With the portability of my iphone,(and with it being with me everywhere I go) I will be able to work on improving my game anywhere, at anytime. And if I need the assistance of an instructor, it sounds like the information I need will be at my fingertips. I cannot wait!

Might be nice to have a "white board" feature where you can place balls anywhere on a table to use when describing shots and scenarios to others. Maybe you could then save that table layout as a photo on the camera roll and text it to a friend. I have an app called DoodleBuddy that saves a drawing in this way.
