Billiards University test

... and yet you keep asking other people to do the 10-ball drill on video?

I didn't ask people to post their 10-ball ghost videos. It's hard enough to get people (e.g., you) to post the BU Exam videos. Also, many people don't have the necessary video equipment and experience with Youtube. Also, it takes time to do all of this.

Now, if you doubt people's run-out ability, watch the Exam II videos. Only people with good run-out skills can do well on the line-of-balls, rail-cut-shot, 9-ball run-out, and 8-ball run-out drills. Have you watched any of the Exam II videos yet?

I didn't ask people to post 10-ball videos. I only asked them to post scores so we can see how the 10-ball-ghost scores and ratings compare to the BU scores and ratings. Based on what people have posted so far, the BU and 10-ball-ghost ratings seem to agree fairly well.

... not true. Gerry Williams posted some 10-ball-ghost video the last time you asked. Here they are: part 1, part 2. His level of play on the 10-ball ghost drill seems to agree well with his performance on the BU Exam videos: Exam I (part 1, part 2) and Exam II (part 1, part 2, part 3).

I have posted several 10-ball-ghost-drill scores. Are you saying you don't trust me? If it would make you feel better, and if it is really that important to you, I would be happy to post a 10-ball-ghost-drill video. Now that my school semester is over, I plan to put in some long practice sessions over the next couple of weeks. If you want, I can record and post some video. Let me know if it is really that important to you and I'll put in the extra effort to record an post a session.

Regards,
Dave

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you yourself lamenting the fact that nobody had linked a 10 ball video a few weeks ago? Now you're saying there's no need to. So which is it?

You say these drills help your general play, well let's see it. It's a bit like asking athletes to videos themselves warming up, and then believing them when they say they can do the 100m in less than 10 seconds!

And let's not kid ourselves here - you would LOVE it everyone who had posted a video of themselves doing your drills did a video of them playing the 10 ball ghost as well. LOVE it.

Be only too happy to record a session with the scoring system you outline Dave. I have figured the 10 ball break out better now so I expect to score higher than 72.
I personally don't need to see any additional 10-ball-ghost video from you (although, I enjoy watching your high level of play). I would trust any additional scores you post in the future, without needing to see video proof.

Catch you later,
Dave

That sounds like an excellent idea!

Maybe the good spirit of the Holiday Season will soften "Pathetic Shark's" negativity and cynicism and little. Maybe he'll even be inspired to share some of his own video before laying down any more demands on others who have already graciously shared and participated.

Happy Holidays,
Dave

There's no need to be so precious. You want to see this every bit as much as I do. And they are not 'demands'. I am just puzzled why nobody has done it yet - as I'm sure you are.

No. Again, I don't think I ever asked people to post 10-ball-ghost-drill videos. It certainly isn't important to me.

Honestly, I really don't care much about watching 10-ball-ghost-drill videos. I trust the scores people post.

Dave

The thing with the exam is it forces you to concentrate over a series of drills to achieve the maximum score possible.

I compare it to the focus needed to play straight pool - that game kicks my ass all the time, partially because of inexperience and partially because of loss of concentration.

Shark - do you think there will be a large discrepancy between the exam score ranking and the 10 ball drill ranking? Trying to understand where you are going with this one.

Either way - I hope everyone has a great holiday season!!

Sparks from all the axe grinding is blinding me....... Ahhhhhhh ! ! !

I must have missed one hell of a back story. :(

I'm at a total loss why someone so unwilling to participate, can't be bothered in any way, has spent more time in this thread alone than would be required in order to participate, is so overbearingly insistent on the participation of others.

This has taken about 3 mins of my time. I work quick.

In some instances, yes. Aren't you interested, either?

I bet all those queuing up to have a go at me over this are DYING to see everybody post their videos. It's human nature. Hypocrisy, n'est pas?

It also might breath some life into, well, let's be kind here, something that has yet to truly get going...

How are your BU Exam and 10-ball-ghost videos coming along? I'm sure that people would love to see if you play as well as you seem to type. If you post videos, maybe many others will also be encouraged to post, especially after they see your high level of play. Then maybe you will be able to sleep at night.

I am not looking to have a go at ya buddy - just trying to understand.

I am always interested to see how players are progressing. I love the game and I find video raises awareness of things we do wrong etc - I know I have a little head movement that I need to eliminate for instance.

On the Subject on 10 Ball Ghost Rating.

I have an old video that I did playing the ghost 10 balls and just going over the video, I had a score of 77 in 10 racks. There's no way I'm a Pro....if anything....I would think that a pro would be anyone that can do 90+. 80+ would be Open player and 70 plus would be A to A+ level (I'm a weak A player at best).

Forgot to mention that maybe the table that I was on was a bucket table..might not do as well on a tight pocket table.

Here's my video for reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3A3qbOFVSk&list=HL1387220108&feature=mh_lolz

Happy Holidays everyone!

Sure, I know that. I respect your game, and have noticed the head/shoulders rising from your videos before. It doesn't do you much harm. It's a mannerism rather than a glitch that needs fixing. Possibly your stance is a little flimsy but that's hard to tell for sure on video. Video yourself doing nothing but power draws to see if there is much body movement. You could also get lower on the shot, with the cue running between the groove of your chin.

You play to a nice rhythm and are very fluent and natural. At the level you play at I'd say it comes down to confidence and concentration, rather than anything mechanical.

Why are you guys feeding this troll? Who gives a chit what he wants to see? He's been banned here once, don't dignify his worthless presence by responding to him.
