Commentary is a tough gig, and sometimes, the commentary has a different goal than to commentate to knowledgeable players.

Can anyone provide a quick rundown? Did Billy drop a big pack of racks on the table?
Was safety play an issue?

Did Wu even get to the table?


And is this as shocking or more shocking than Karen defeating big Ko a couple of US Opens ago?

Just checked it out on the Fargorate site the odds in a race to 11.

Thorpe 760 14.2% likelihood of winning.
Wu 827 85.8% likelihood of winning

I'd say Thorpe not only played well but got a few rolls. Didn't see it myself.
 
I think Thorpe only had a two pack? It was dominating, but it really was his break that killed Wu. He did get a few rolls but nothing dramatic. What's a bigger deal is that Wu missed a couple of easy balls for a player of his caliber.

Right but the chance of him winning 11-1 is much lower, probably close to zero.
