Biloxi Mike Murdered!!!!

I spoke with Lt. Flowers of the Ocean Springs, Miss. police dept. today. They're still keeping the investigation status close to the vest, but it sounds like they have some good leads. Evidently the presumed suspect (my phrase) has left a paper trail in Jackson, Miss., and also Atlanta.

I gave the lieutenant a complete description of the presumed suspect, and was able to provide some possible other insights. He wants to meet with me, and also the other friend of Mike's who was present during the discussion between Mike and the presumed suspect. They are interviewing everyone who may have come into contact with the guy. If I can get any information from the police that I'm given permission to pass along, I certainly will.

The lieutenant was made aware of the potential vast audience available for posting pictures or other clues via the pool websites. I got the impression that he would like to take advantage of that when they're ready to release photos.

Fatboy phoned today and gave some helpful hints about what course to take if Mike's cues were stolen. But it has not been learned by most of us whether or not any cues were stolen.

Mike's funeral arrangements are posted in another thread.

Doc

Personally, as an acquaintance of Mike's and as a pool player, I would want to know two things:

What actor or well-known public figure do the guys last seen with Mike most look like?

What cue or two did Mike play with and might now be in the perpetrators hands?

Great idea, JAM.

I just wrote to The Nancy Grace Show.

It's a long shot, but, if my e-mail gets noticed, the way I have written it, Nancy Grace might be able to help shine a light on this tragic and senseless murder.

I'm talking about putting the heat on. SOMEBODY out there knows something, maybe not aware that this "something" is connected to this.

If anybdoy else is so inclined to write to Nancy Grace, here is the link: http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?81

Writing to Nancy Grace, though I know is a long shot, sure does beat sitting back and doing nothing, watching nothing unfold. :sorry:

That link was for regular feedback ("comment = positive or negative") on the show itself.

This one is for newstips: http://www.cnn.com/feedback/tips/newstips.html

and this one is for "story ideas."

I did "story idea," but "news tip" might have been better. I personally can't stand that woman, but I would watch that particular show.

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Ocean Springs Police have released a surveillance photo showing the last person seen with Michael Surber before he was killed. The 54-year-old Surber was found dead at his home Thursday night.

Police say Jericho Cooper is a white man in this late 40s to mid 50s. He's about six feet tall and weighs between 175 and 185 pounds. He wears his receding hair pulled back in a ponytail, just below the collar.

Cooper is considered a "person of interest" in the case, and is wanted for questioning. He was last seen in the Jackson area on Sunday, November 15th. Police say he's known to frequent bars and pool halls.

If you have any information on Jericho Cooper's whereabouts, call the Oceans Springs Police Department at (228) 875-2211, or your local law enforcement agency

I have googled that name and looked it up on publicrecordsnow.com. No luck on google, found 3 from Minnesota on publicrecordsnow.com. No much info though. Most likely that name is a alias or only one of them is right (either Jericho or Cooper) either way we have his face now so somebody please find this piece of shit!

Reading between the lines of the interview of the police officer, they are worried that Mike is well-connected in pool circles and that the pool community at large might find the perp or take some vigilante justice. I agree that vigilante justice is not the way to go, but the threat of it hanging there, in my experience, will make the police force that much more eager to solve the crime quickly. Especially if, as in this case, they have a lot of physical evidence.

It is puzzling though that they are saying the cause of death was hard to determine. Is that just intentional misdirection or is there really a big piece that we don't know about.

I'm with you there, havent finished the thread yet but got to your post and agreed. When I watched the video link someone posted the cops acted like they've read this board. The scum deserves to die and I hope he does for what he did. I remember that pool hall very well. Never knew many there but I've hit a few there. Sad to hear a great guy was killed over something he would have probably gladly given over in trade for his life but it was taken away by an idiot. He wont evade us long, but if God forbid he does the man upstairs WONT FORGET!

I don't know what else could have caused the profuse hemorrhaging from the mouth.

As soon as anyone knows anything concrete, it'll be posted on the websites.

Jesus Christ man. I cant imagine the toll its taking on yall and the family. I know they'll keep the autopsy private as long as possible but for you to call them with a possible identity to this piece of shit and them not atleast contact you back makes me sick. I know some police stations differ on info, etc. but God I pray that they'll do whatever they can to find this scum and watch him rot in jail. I miss Gulfport, Ocean Springs, Long Beach, Biloxi, and Saucier. They are just small towns with casinos, and Biloxi Mike sounded like your typical country guy that would help anyone anytime and sadly it cost him his life. I just drove by a guy the other day and almost stopped to help because its the right thing to do. I carry a pistol but still didnt want the chance. I felt like shit afterwards and still do to a point, but after stories like this I dont want that to happen to me or my loved ones.

God I pray he didnt suffer.:(

We can always try Americas Most Wanted as well. I think they take submissions as well. I'll leave that to those to know him unless I'm told different but like you say JAM the more that know about this the better this p.o.s. is caught and arrested.

The First 48 Hours must not be on TV there or something. The black chick in Memphis gets the bad guy all the time, she dosent waste anytime, she is triple smart and gets the confessions during the interrogations,. To bad she isnt down there-she might have the guy already, not goting to the pool room a week after, PFFFFTTT he might just be in Zimbabwe by now.

Sounds like the cops need a swift kick in the ass down there, or its the Chiefs brother-in-Law they are covering up for. honestly they dont seem to care...

Well you gotta admit Ocean Springs is not loaded with personnel like Memphis is when it comes to manpower. Good thing is now everyone knows what this chump looks like and his name. I still think he needs some type of fix and cant stay out of pool halls because he knows thats where the money is. Like gulfportdoc said he kept looking at Mike and him, he could have been looking at their sticks and said "they have money" or something of the likes. If I walk in with a Meucci and my buddy is playing with a Bushka you would assume he has the cash and I dont. Gulfportdoc could have been the target as Mike was IMHO and thats why he was hanging out drinking and set Mike up. So I think he really knows the whos who with cuemakers whether he stole Mike's cues or not.

Just my thoughts...

The more I think about this incident, the more I think that Mike may have been being watched by this creep because of Mike's connection to the casinos.

The alleged suspect said he wanted a tour of casinos. Mike works and knows casino culture.

The casinos is where I'd be targeting the investigation, not just the pool rooms.

It would help to know if any cue sticks that belonged to Mike are missing, or was it just money that was stolen and no belongings?

If it's just money, then this alleged suspect may just be a gambling addict who has gone over the edge.

Jam, my personal opinion based on witnessing the meeting between Mike and this "person of interest" is that the guy knew nothing whatever of Mike until he spotted him at Skeeter's that afternoon. My gut feeling is that the guy was on the prowl for a victim, and the guy focused in on Mike. Looking at it from the guy's perspective, since he determined that Mike liked to gamble, he probably figured that Mike had some money on him, and so he decided to follow up on it to wherever it would go.

Mike was small in size and not threatening in the least. He also showed friendliness to the guy. I think the guy locked onto him as a prospective victim. Mike just happened to fall for this guy's line.

The unofficial word is that the guy did not get into Mike's safes and steal his cue collection. Supposedly Mike's cues that he carried with him are missing. I don't know if that's true or not. IF he did get the cues, I believe Mike played with a Scruggs and a Kersenbrock. As soon as either of these two points are confirmed, someone will post it on the websites.

And there must be questions about the spelling too. Nobody saw his license...

It depends I think. I've seen they claimed he could have been in Jackson then Atlanta. No casinos on that track from Alabama to Atlanta. Of course he could have found a few in Mississippi. For that killer instinct to just kick in and him want to rob Mike makes me think drugs. I just hope this p.o.s. is caught in time before someone else dies..:(

The fact is that nobody on here knows exactly what happened except that Mike Surber was murdered (the coroner established that). Nobody knows who did it. Nobody knows how it happened. Nobody knows why. And nobody knows if the person of interest had anything (or eveything) to do with it.

But it looks like many want to be vigilantes. Let's have a hanging party!

This is why the cops don't share info they don't have to with the public. Too many morons out there. The guy in the pic needs to be brought in for questioning about what he knows and where he was. He sure looks like he could be guilty, but probably so do the half the folks in the "shoot him in his tracks" AZB hanging party, who do not seem to believe in the system of American justice which presumes innocence until proven guilty.

I just hope some innocent person who a mental defective on here thinks looks the guy in the pic doesn't get hurt. Really.

Make the phone call only. No need to even talk to the person of interest.

Anyone with information about the identity of the person of interest and or his whereabouts, is asked to call the Ocean Springs Police Department at 228-875-2211 or your local law enforcement.

2. I hope someone down south goes to the casino he worked at and starts a annual memorial one pocket tournament in "Biloxi Mike"s honor, he sounds deserving of it.it will also keep his spirit alive. JMO
