"" Black Boar "" ,,,,unchalked , monster shaft on e bay,,,,,item # 280395027039,,,,,free shipping anywhere in the world,,,,,

I am curious how you authenticate a 5/16-14 shaft with a silver ring and ivory ferrule. I just read the E-Bay add and it states that the shaft was authenticated by the folks at the Black Boar booth. If this is one of the older Black Boar shafts, what are the distinguishing features of the shaft that stamp it as a Black Boar shaft or do they just know the made it by the look and feel. Not knocking the authenticity just curious?? Thanks in advance for the answer. Good luck on the sale.

I don't know one way or the other, but I think it's interesting that the seller never mentioned that he had a Black Boar CUE. Also, it's my understanding that the "fitting" Tony does is for a new CUE order, not shafts. Also, that tip looks kinda thin to me for being unplayed. I just got a '92 RS3 BB with two of Tony's new "ferrulless" shafts, fit to the butt by Tony who confirmed that to me on the phone. The seller said they were $400 each and never mentioned that he had to go to Maryland (he didn't) to "show Tony how he plays to get fit" for the new shafts, he mailed the butt. There's lots of shafts that look like this. BB shafts have a "compression" fit on the last turn to a BB butt that distinguish them. I''d be a little leary, even if the guy did talk to Tony at VF.
:p

OK. I'll retract my earlier comments since it sounds like the guys legit.

Reply on the ''Black Boar '' shaft,,,,,

Hi,,,,,

Just to answer a few questions,,,,,,

Those of you that know me know i have some great "BB'' items including 12 ""BB'' CUES, 6 ""JUSTIS '' BB"" envelope cases and along the way, i picked up a few ""BB"" shafts ,,,,

As i was told , alot of people would replace the authentic shafts with other shafts i took about 10 shafts down to VF in 2008 knowing that they were setting up a booth to commemorate their 25th year in cuemaking,,,,,

The guys would first hand look at the shaft,,,, and a key thing i was told was how the insert was inserted as well as a precise, light compression fit while being screwed on,,,,,,,

Yeah,,i agree that a shaft is a tough thing to authenticate but i would think a true artist like Tony or any other big name cuemaker would recognize certain traits on their work,,,,,,thats why i took it down to them at VF,,,,,

If Tony is doing shafts now without requesting ""fitting "" in person,,,, thats great for all of us,,,,,i would love to try out his ""ferrule less "" shafts,,,,,

Check my feedback here and on ebay.......i go by PUTT-PUTT44 on both,,,,

Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,!!

I know the seller well and he is VERY reputable. He has numerous Black Boar cues and knows Tony. When he says "authenticated by the folks at the Black Boar booth" he is speaking of Tony and Craig. There are not two better people on the planet to authenticate BB cues and/or shafts than the maker of BB cues and the largest BB cue collector.

This certainly works for me, like I said I was not knocking, I was just curious. I know that I had a few McDaniel's cues from the 90's and you could not fit a Schon shaft on them without taking a little off the diameter of the nipple part of the shaft that screws into the steel joint. Thanks for following up.

Follow up to all on the ''BB'' shafts and other things,,,,

Yeah,,, I would hope that any of the custom cue makers would be able to pick out their own shafts from a '' CUE LINE UP """,,,,,,,To all of us who spend a fortune on this ""hobby"",,,,,man,, i sure would hope so,,,,,

I think that would be a fun challenge,,,, maybe for this coming VF event....

I hate all the cliches in describing cues,,,yeah,,, ""monster '' is certainly up there along with ""hits a ton "", "jam up"", "" plays lights out"",,,,,,but i chose that term based on this shafts big specs,,,,,

Anyway,,,,always fun to chat with all my fellow pool nuts,,,,,,,,,,,,,,!!

I'm not doubting myself that it's a BB shaft. I'm sure it is. I am doubting that it will sell though. The pics are so blurry it looks like you've had about 12 beers when looking at them. Just a hint to take some better pictures.... GL with the sale though!

Hey C&C,,,,,,,,,,,!!

HA-HA,,,,

No,,,,no beers here pal,,,,,as a matter of fact,.,,i'm working out like a mo-fo now,,,,,,Bill Schick calls me ""The Big Man",,,,,,,,,,,jeez,,,,wish my girlfriend Andrea did !!!...LOL,,,( another computer refernce i hate )..

I took the pics up in my loft as it was a sunny day and i always prefer natural daylight,,,,,i guess i need to get into the year 2009 and get a new camera,,,,,believe it or not,,,i took that on the ""close up "" setting,,,,,,,,

I find when the things are so small,,,they have a tendency to blur,,,,,at least with my lack of skills,, but all kidding aside,,,,,, the shaft may sell itself based the specs along with those that know me,,,,,,if not, i have no problem keeping it,,,( I think it will sell though),,,,,,,

I , by the way was at your booth as well at the VF last year,,,,,,awesome work,,,,,,only getting better,,,,,,,

Let's keep this thread going,,,,,,i'm having fun !!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Alan,,,,

Man, you took some awful pics!
Take the lens cap off next time.:grin-square:

chris G<-------will vouch for alan all day long

Chris Grader in "" da house"".....

Hey Chris,,,,,,

Yeah,,,,i need your p/c skills man,,,,, just saw your name in ""Inside pool"" magazine,,,,,,great tourney finish for you , my man,,,,,,,

Trust all is well Chris, i'm enjoying this thread,,,,feels great to be back with my fellow AZ'ER'S,,,,,,trying,,,,,and i must emphazise {trying } to list an occasional item or so,,,,,,,

I just put an extra 2 sports collectable items on e bay as well,,,,,,,getting cold here Chris,,,,,I still have the bike out as "" Thunder in the Catskills'' is coming up next weekend and in the past 16 (?) years,,,i haven't missed one,,,,,then, i'll probably put the bike away for the season,,,,,,,

Anyway,,,stay well and keep in touch kid,,,,,,,,,,,Alan.............

Maybe i have you confused with C&C CUES,,,,,,,,???

No problem,,,,,,,,,,,take care,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Alan,,,,,,,,,,,,

More pics of the ""bb"" shaft,,,

It's a bit later in the day and my web guy said i may have better luck outside if i shoot on the ""auto "" featurea as oppossed to the ""close up"" feature up in my loft utilizing the sky light as a light factor,,,,,he told me the sky light may add to the ''wash out effect "" of close up small objects,,,,

Anyway,,,,,,take a look,,,,,,,,thanks guys and girls,,,,,,,,,,,,,Alan,,,,,,,,,
