On the For Sale section, guys over there are trying to sell BB shafts for $600, plus shipping..

Are you fk kidding me??

Since when did everything get jacked up to the point of absurdity?

I understand a premium on higher quality goods, but there is a limit at which you can stick it to people..

To top it off, other purveyors of like goods comment, "What a steal!!" and "Wow, can't believe what a great deal!"... lol

Its amazing.. I feel like I'm standing outside of a concert surrounded by scalpers.

Because it costs a G to get that shaft from Tony at Black Boar.

That's a bargain compared to the Searing shaft that was listed!

I agree with you totally but if the cuemaker charges more, then in fact it would be a deal. Blackboar deals in a small market and bigger collector market that are willing to pay this.
To the average player your view covers what most think. Most people wouldnt spend a half million on a car but there is a market that will.

Will it make me shoot like Efren? Do I get a free reach around with each shaft purchased or do I just get the shaft :D ....literally

Boar shafts from BB cost 600 if you do not have a boar. 450 if you do.

I guess to me it comes down to two separate questions -

Is the price the seller is asking reasonable based on what the makers sells the item for with consideration given to rarity/difficulty to obtain and demand?

And is the price the maker is asking for the item reasonable for what you get?

If BB sells these shafts for $600 and that is what the seller is asking then it seems the seller is requesting a reasonable price all things considered. That does not, however, answer the question if a BB shaft is worth $600.

$600 seems like a crazy price for a plain maple shaft to me...not sure what is done that makes it worth 3x what most makers are charging. But I've never tried one so maybe I just don't know what I'm missing.

So Tony charges $600, why would you disrespect his business and prices on here or talk about something you don't know about if you're clueless about this topic. Furthermore used or not his stuff holds value. Prices went up since the 500 price tag days. Also if you speak of my shaft it's very rare if you don't know since Tony only makes 5/16x14 pin cues and shafts he happen to make an exception for a Scruggs radial cue so odds are even if there are one in a millionaires collection they will never be sold if there are any so odds are again this is the only one you'll ever see makes it kinda a big deal for the right person Or collector. You may not think so, I respect your opinion. But kinda seems like you don't know the market of BB, your hating on Tony's prices or you just hate high end expensive cues not sure lol hope this helps you and if it doesn't sorry your bitter he gets $600 a shaft lol

This is why I now play with cues made in China that cost next to nothing that play F-ing great.
I have several black boars.
Got them before prices went ballistic.
No way in hell I am going to get a shaft made for that money when I can get 3 cuetec R360s for example, for the same price.

I can get mad, shatter it into splinters, and have 2 extra cues ready to go.

$450 or $600 for a shaft?
If I spend that type of money on a shaft, it better come with a hot girl that gives great massages.

Here are the multiple choice answers you can choose from to answer OP's question. Have fun!

A. Who gives a sh*t?
B. Who gives a sh*t?
C. Who gives a sh*t?
D. Don't buy it.

Sorry for the snarky 'tude. But this sort of argument has been raised more times than I've choked on a money ball, and that's a lot of times... If you want a real answer, it's that BB, Searing, SW, and their flippers wouldn't be charging these prices if people didn't pay them. But they do pay, so these prices do exist.

You forgot answer E
If you are a pro and expect it for free

Or 6k+ for a leather wrap, a logo and a steel joint. I remember seeing "loaded" boars go for that much. ****in nuts man.

Is there anything different in the wood I mean maple is maple .

Maple is not maple. If it is, we'd go to Lowes and buy maple dowels.
BB caters to people with money. They charge what they can and how they value their products.
If they sell too low, the phones will keep ringing from flippers all day.
Why would they sell for $1 when the market pays $3?
