I've installed,moved,refelted these style tables, it's a home/furniture table. It has no place in a pool room for prolong commercial use.
Several of the tables- Apollo,black wolf,black crown,black diamond and many more all share basically the same internal build.
Be aware of the wolf in sheep clothing!!!!

Aside from other posters who completely contradict you...you didn't mention playing on any of these tables...if you had you would realize that the Black Crown plays like a Diamond. Actually, Diamonds play like Black Crowns since Black Crown has been around since 1973, and Diamond only came about in 1987...Diamond probably modeled their tables after Black Crown because they play so similar.
And Black crowns are based on the GC1 rail system....so they copied Brunswick....and play like a pool table does. So Diamond copied the Blank Crown, maybe that's why the Diamonds banked short and played springy....they should have copied a better table...LOL
You'd have us believe your boundless table construction and playability knowledge doesn't include appropriate environmental conditions?
I am only doing climate control to protect my table...I couldn't care less about environmental playing conditions. I can play in any conditions.

1973,1987,2017 all those years of tables used the same cushions right? and the same slate and rail thickness right?
I hit balls on every table I complete, not all cushions are created equal... you can line up several brands of the same profile cushions/rubbers and you'll find they all have their own characteristics.
FYI~> Steepleton made the first few "diamond" pool tables for Greg<~ which had issues. The older tables/pro am don't have built in leveling system..
I can assure you no one was coping the design of the Canadian kindling table you speak of...

lol you hacks probably can't even draw the ball 6 inches. Black Crowns were around long before Diamond tables so Diamond plays like Black Crown...not the other way around. Also...this thread is about room temperature...not about Black Crowns. This forum is apparently full of Diamond fan boys hi-jacking topics.

So I just wasted 5 minutes of my life reading this thread.
A couple of things. Black crowns are very common up here in Canada particularly in Quebec and Ontario. They are (or were) made in Quebec so proximity to manufacturing (and materials, Quebec has a huge forestry industry) makes them reasonably affordable. They are most definitely a commercial table. It wasn't all that uncommon to see a 30 table pool hall with black crowns wall to wall. A little less common now since most of those pool halls have closed.
Similarly, we had and still have a lot of dufferin commercial tables up here for similar reasons (built in Ontario).
I wouldnt expect Americans to be very familiar with these tables since they likely had no market share south of the border.
We are really only starting to see diamond tables pop up here. It's still extremely pricy to get them up here especially with the exchange rate where it is currently.
We have gold crowns as well but certainly a lower percentage of them.
I've played for years on all of these and had a black crown 1 setup really well in my basement for a couple of years.
When setup well it plays very well. Is it as a good as a diamond? No, nor is it as good as a gold crown. They are both better tables when setup well. That said it still a solid table.

Yep...but imo black crown plays closer to a diamond than dufferin or gold crown.

Finally back on topic. In Vancouver bc...Canada.

I can keep the temperature at a constant 18 degrees Celsius...I am going to pick up a hygrometer...something like this http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/hygrometer-0435203p.html to test the humidity and see if a dehumidifier is necessary.

With Vancouver weather, I'd be more worried about the humidity than the rain. I don't think I've ever been to Vancouver when it hasn't rained at least a bit.
You may want to put down some anti fatigue flooring (like rubber mats or interlocking tile). Concrete slab in a garage is going to be hell on your back and knees. You may be able to keep the room temperature at 18C but the slab will be significantly colder.
