I met Jeanette Lee, along with several other professional players back at Amsterdam Billiards in 1990. Looking back, I couldn't have predicted how things would have turned out for many of us except maybe Jeanette. She showed more game at 19 than many devoted players will ever show. She was running 100s routinely, beating every woman in NYC and all but the best men. It's my opinion, had it not been for her medical condition, she would have been regarded as the best female player in US history, possibly world history.
The 90s were an amazing time that I look back on fondly. I miss seeing Johnny Ervolino, Abe Rosen, Ginky, Jack Calivito, Gene Nagy and Cicero Murphy. But, when Jeanette plays, I can see a little bit of each of them in her game. Congratulations to Jeanette on the BCA Hall of Fame induction. They should be honored to have her.
