I just watched one so far, have to watch the others. I chose to watch
Cory's jump shot and following shape shot.

All this Japanese banter carrying on, and right in the middle, an English comment sneaks in, 'Cory did it', and then more Japanese .... lol

That was an amazing shot, considering the jump he had to make (getting over the 8 and landing right to make the 2), but to be able to get enough on the cue to then come off the end rail with enough speed to get down table for decent shape on the 5 is what made it so super. I watched 5-6 times, BTW, and he used low right english on the cue ball (that allowed the cue to hit the end rail hard enough with a grab to it to get mostly down table to the other end). Considering the almost straight angle on the 2, it was
a super shot.

Come to think of it, Cory looked part Japanese in the video!!! ... lol

I think what happens, and he is hoping for it to happen, is that the CB bounces off the OB and lands on the edge of the rail, which kicks it up the table.

Is that table from the Deuel video made of Cocobolo (like the one from last year's US Open)?
 
Thread title not terribly accurate. I recall attending the 2003 Challenge of Champions and Allsion won the first set fo the final 5 - 1. Lee came back 5 - 4 in the second set to force the tie breaker. Although the tiebreaker was won by Lee to capture the title, Allison won 9 of the 15 racks played, and was certainly the better player in that match. Jeanette fought the good fight to win, but hardly wiped the floor with Allison!

Thanks for the additional info. It reminded me that I have seen the entire match quite a while ago somewhere online.

The 2 set format sucks as a test of best player, but it does result in about 50% of matches going to a single frame tie-break, which generates some audience excitement.

Yeah I agree. Jeanette is used to playing on TV, so I don't know how nervous she was, but she got really lucky to win that rack. She fluked a safety by hitting the ball waaaay too thick, and then Allison played a soft safety, and left Jeanette a very easy return safety. Jeanette got out of line on the first shot, then a couple more times, and she was very lucky that they play on such HUGE pockets, because she hit that 8-ball very poorly but it still fell. She almost missed the easy 9-ball too.

Nice understatement.

On the other hand, I went to the site expecting to see the real "wipe up" matches. There have been 2 matches in the past several years where JL defeats Allison 7-0 (in one of them Allison has only 3 innings, and fails to make a single ball, scratching in all 3 innings). Now that would be "wiping up Allison."

yeah i found the Pool Master on youtube and posted it up on non related pool topic and i thought it was funny ...Hey Colin you see the one where these two guys break the lights by colliding the cueballs on accident you should add to the collection. Post number two

I agree, there was one tournament where she really did wipe the floor with Allison thought literally a 7-0 blowout i can't recall which tournament it was but i have it on tape i have to find it if nobody already knows which one i am talking about. But the 2003 Challenge of Champions just air'd on ESPN Classics just recently too LOL.
 
Allison's semi final with The Sledge Hammer she played flawless pool also. I wanted Allison to take that title then too but she got her the next year. I just watched the 2002 Challenge of Champions yesterday morning of Efren and Mika it was great this was the one that i didn't have on tape and now i got it Efren played great although he didn't call the nineball a couple times. And at the end when he won when they showed him shake Francisco's hands and his buddies the camera shows the crowd and you can see three guys and one guy is collecting money from his buddies i thought that was hilarious...

Yes I've seen the light breaking one before, a year or so back on another service.

It's actually Fast Larry closest to screen.

The aim was apparently for the balls to collide mid-air and to come back to pocket the balls over the corner pockets.

kewl i didn't know that, i thought they were suppose to pass by each other and pocket the corner balls.

In the video where they break the lights over the table, the guy closest to the cam is Fast Larry, IIRC.
