Blackball World Championship

Is it me or does that table look "Fisher Price" in size? Or are they giants.....

some of the tables they use for UK 8 ball are even smaller, you see a lot of 6 footers out there. not as easy as you might think though....lots of congestion on the table, balls are smaller (smaller target contact area), pockets are tight and have a different cut. odd thing is the cueball is smaller than the rest of the balls.

me thinks that was 8 ft table. At least this size is official for major tournaments.

Wondered what you were going to say.

Never mind supporting...can you spell sponsor?

I am interviewing sponsors: Please forward financial documentation of wealth and I will determine amounts I will recieve.

?

Can't count so good.
Can I just send you my bankroll?
Lemme know how much I got...
..thinkin' of buying another cue

Is it me...or is this not only smaller...but SHORTER? Either everyone is really tall or the slate height is lower too. I guess it could be the camera angle...

good question...i know snooker tables are taller than american pool tables, dunno about official heights for an english pool table.

Thanks for the link--I liked this. Both players made this look a lot easier than it probably is. The winner in particular, shooting often without practice strokes but getting very precise position. Rep to you for an enjoyable diversion.

Not my favourite game, but I really enjoyed watching that! The winner is 22-year-old Jayson Shaw from Scotland. He recently finished 17th-24th in the US Open, going down 11-8 to Rodney Morris after Appleton put him on one loss.

Particularly surprising to American players will be the "two visit" penalty for a scratch. Note what happens in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcWMHu_zagc&feature=related

I have seen the '2 shots after a foul' negotiated as a 1p handicap.

In the vid, when winner is shooting his last 2, he friggin blasted his last ball and sucked his stone, brushing the black (& ~lucking a goodish leave).
Why didn't he shoot/ stop, then play 8 in the side or up L) corner?

Is it a last-pocket thing?

And that table must be <36" off the ground!
