Blue Diamond chalk review...

First of all, please don't let my opinion stop anyone from buying this chalk and trying yourself. I would not want to hurt the sale of this chalk because this is just my opinion and I may be expecting more from the chalk that it can give. I gave it a try because of the rave reviews I got from this site.

I used the chalk for 2 days on a Factory Schon cue with factory tip. I compared it to Masters (with flag).

My review is simple: I noticed NO difference in application and how it sticks to the tip compared to the Masters chalk. It did not mark my cue ball nor did it mark my hands anymore than Masters.

Maybe I didn't give it long enough.....I hope that's the case, but I don't think so. Opinions?

Thanks jed for sharing your info. It would have to be a big difference for me to switch and I realize that peoples opinions will vary.

I did some testing with Masters blue with the flag awhile back, drying some in the oven. It played a little more like the green chalk and seemed to work a little better. Then purely by accident I left a piece outside in very humid conditions for a few months. I tried it, it seemed to work a little better too.

I then decided that I could probably convince myself any change is better and haven't worried about chalk since then.

BD - I tried it and liked it so much, I bought a case of it!

To each their own

Russ....

I am also thinking about ordering a few cubes for comparison, just can find a darn supplier. Found a 2 peice box on ebay for 10 dollars shipped! Does anyone else have any good or bad reveiws about Blue Diamond Chalk?

Well I guess I must have been under a rock , because I don't think that I've heard of this chalk , I use Master's Blue and like it and I also tried Silver Cup Navy and I didn't like it at all , I felt like a little kid playing with sidewalk chalk , it seemed like it was all over my hands .

Not too long ago, i picked up a box of blue triangle just for the hell of it. It's just as good if not better than masters, imo. Blue d seems a bit pricy, but to each his own.

I've used Master chalk for many years and i've been satisfied with it, but I would like to try BD chalk just to satisfy my curiosity. I think the price is a little steep for a cube of chalk and that's just my opinion.......

I don't know how many cubes are in a case, but I also like it so much I bought a couple years supply. I do not understand why, after trying it, some AZBr's remain unimpressed with it.

Blue Diamond

I have used the Blue Diamond chalk exclusively for the last year. One day I accidentally left my chalk holder in my game room and was forced to use master chalk that evening. Night and day. The master chalk requires greater attention to the apllication because it doesn't cover as well.

I never noticed this until I got in the habit of looking at my tip while I chalk instead of the "nervous tick" chalking that many player do while walking toward their next shot.

I also bought a case of it.

Ray

ps. It also lasts much longer, because it doesn't require as much. ;)

Tried BD for the first time this Saturday, and I noticed two things: 1) It spreads nice and even. 2) My bridge hand and shaft stayed cleaner. Considering how long a piece of chalk lasts if you're a "wiper" not a "driller", I'm sold, even at the premium price.

To each his own, I guess. Triangle is made by Tweeten, same company that makes Masters. They have slightly different formulations and processes as I understand.

brings up a question

I have long wondered why chalk still comes in a cube with a dimple in the middle to encourage the drillers. Seems like thinner flat bar with some support on the back would make more sense. I have a couple more ideas but I'll keep daydreaming about making a buck off of them myself.

i have been using it for about a year now, and wont being switching back. i will agree with everything that has already been said and add that it last a lot longer. i have yet to replace a cube that has worn out. i either leave it a bar, or my dog gets it. i have a piece i leave in my case that i use for league 3 times a week. i, along with my oppenents are the only ones that use it. (i have noticed this keeps it from drilling out, and some players wont even use it because its not drilled). i have been using that peice for probaly 2 months and havent even worn down to the top of the paper yet.
