Blue Baby

I used to have green on my home table. The room is basically dark wood paneling in the basement. Kinda dark. It was pretty good but kinda hard to see dark balls (8 and 6) when they were on the end rails.

Put new electric blue on and a couple of thing happend...I started making those long thin cuts on the end rail (cause I can see the balls now) and my hands and cue shaft quit turning blue (I now use light green chalk).

To me, it made a world of difference. I really like the lighter cloth.

Blue is much nicer. One of those things where despite tradition, new is better.

Although I don't like dark blue - the powder blue i think it's known as is the best.

I have blue Granito M on my three cushion table. It makes the table seem a lot brighter. I really like it.

blue

I have preferred the medium to dark green traditional color forever it seems like. However the pool hall I like best puts the tournament blue or similar on their tables. I find it is easier to see ball edges against the blue so kicking and screaming about being brought into the present, I have to say I like the blue better now.

One bump for a few more votes

I am doing this poll for a local pool hall owner (Doug Walker, owner of Kickshot Billiards) and would like a few more votes before I report back to him. Thanks!:)

pool tables are green. always have been.

but blue is better than friggin red, purple, orange, pink, black or any of those other novelty colors.

I'll second that!

I walked into a room I had been going to for years and the tables looked like a rainbow gone mad! Every color of cloth available I believe. After staring a moment in shock I turned and walked out never to return until I heard that the tables had became green again.

I think every year more and more Pool Halls and players in general will prefer the blue color. I am old school as well, but there are a number of compelling arguments for the blue over the green, including better visibility. I think Diamond did a study, or read the results of a study or something like that to determine the best color for the cloth. I have blue on my table at home based on Diamond's recommendation and I am very pleased with the look and playability. I can't see every going back to green.

I prefer blue. For your survey purposes it is important to note that the blue is harder to keep clean IMO.

Surprised

I am surprised to see that, at this point, it is a dead heat between blue and green. I thought blue would be winning out. I am about as "old school" as it gets, but I have come to prefer blue as I think I see the balls better on blue. I am going to report to Doug Walker, the pool hall owner who asked me to do this poll, that the voting was VERY close with no clear winner. Thanks to all who took the time to vote!

No burgundy option? That's what I've been playing on the last six months.

Granted, it was a "decor issue" (I let the wife pick it- she hated the tournament blue that I wanted- it made taking up the entire dining room with a pool table an easier thing to sell:p ).
