My brother in law had his Diamond recovered. The mechanic told him it's better to use green chalk on blue Simonis. That the blue chalk would leave dark spots. Something like that. Anyone ever heard this before. It's a bar table but he takes great pride in it's upkeep.

I use blue Magic chalk on my tournament blue Simonis and have never had a problem.
Magic chalk sheds less and that alone makes a difference.

All you need to do is take a few shots and see how it looks. I have the tournament blue color on my table and don't see any abnormal marks using normal chalk color. A place I play in got the light green chalk and that leaves a mess all over the place. The coloring must make the chalk more powdery.

Blue chalk

Blue chalk is fine in my experience, been running two weekly tourneys for years. My room changed to blue Simonis and they were told only the chalk they were sold was to be used for fear of black marks. I've also heard the green theory, but neither are valid in my experience. Everywhere I've been rooms all use regular blue Masters w no problems. I understand the amount you spend on these tables is substantial and you want to take very good care of it, but I hate the look of different colored chalk on the playing surface, just my experience, nice table enjoy !!!

I use the green Masters......the blue blends in and you cannot really tell how dirty your table is.

Wait....you can...because your hand turns dark blue to black after playing.

And....the waitresses can now see what tables need brushing when using the lighter green.

I use orange chalk on my blue Simonis. It makes it easier to see and remove. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.

On a home table that is kept clean, the marks are more noticeable. I noticed that the usual Masters did leave marks. I switched to the Sky Blue Masters and it was much better. I still vacuum the table regularly and wipe with a damp (not wet) micro fiber cloth after every second or third vacuuming.

Since I'm a sucker for allegedly premium stuff, I bought some of the OB chalk (which is lighter than usual Masters) and it is fine too. I use Magic Chalk at the pool hall, because everyone else is using usual blue and after a short while the table doesn't show the difference.

Believe it or not blue chalk leaves black marks on my Simonis Tournament Blue cloth. I have been using magic chalk maybe I will try masters and see if it has the same results.

Thanks

Kevin

I have Simonis Tournament Blue on my table.
I use Blue chalk.
I see no long term problem after 8 years of use.

I wasn't gonna say it because maybe I heard it wrong. I believe black marks using blue chalk was the main issue. Seemed odd that blue would leave black marks but that's why green chalk was suggested. Lots of league players so several different brands of chalk. Maybe not a blue chalk issue but maybe a brand of chalk.

We have a couple of league players that use black or dark grey chalk on Diamonds. I asked one night why they were using dark chalk cause it makes a huge effin mess.:mad: He told me "I have a Kamui black tip so I have to use the black chalk on it".:confused::confused: I must have just crawled out from under some rock because I always thought you could use blue chalk on pretty much any tip.

Sky Blue

We use Sky Blue Master chalk. Blends perfect with tournament blue. On a home table probably not a big deal. In a pool room you can clearly see the difference. Regular blue chalk leaves dark marks and makes the table look like someone with greasy hands was playing. once I changed to sky blue all went away. And yes we vacuum our tables.

I'd put up a sign on your home league table room about using matching chalk just for that dork.
