BLUEGRASS..vs..McDaniels

Jerry, you should post pics of the spectacular one of a kind cue Bill made for you. Bill should write a book, there is so much history that needs to shared.

Here it is.

Jerry - That cue is really wonderful! Love the silver work. One of my all time favorite cue design elements - all cues, all makers - is the silver dash rings Bill did.

Love that cue Jerry. About 20 years old I believe. The diamond ring joint protector is the nutz.

Thanks Chris, I've really enjoyed playing with it over the years. By the way Tommy I've had it about 15 years, of course yall cussed me for 2 years while you worked on it.

Not yet Brother. Wet sand and buff started today, wrap this weekend.

Another guy from my country recently bought another bill's cue. Very expensive one with maple burl forearm and butt with tons of inlays of silver and ivory.
With some weird metal joint with ivory in it:shocked::love:

Peter-gun, you may wanna edit your post. I won't caption it so it won't be saved but you have a typo with "guy". LOL

I don't have a lot of experience with McDaniels cues but every one I have seen was nice & well built. I do know Richard Harris a little & have played with his cues quite a bit. I do know he IS a short stop+ player who has a world class gear, and will gamble with ANYBODY on earth just for the sake of learning. That speaks volumes for his ability to understand what a cue should play like. I don't know much about McDaniels so I cannot compare, but thought i'd share a lil tid-bit about Bluegrass that some may not know.

Eric, what you point out about Richard Harris shows some of the intangibles of great cue makers. You could put Bill's name in place of Richard, great player and stone cold gambler. I mentioned earlier that he should write a book, his escapades in Vegas in the 60's and 70's alone would be enough for volume 1. Knowing the game and what a world class player needs is essential in constructing a superior cue. Both Karen Corr and Nick Varner had a resurgence in their game with world titles coming their way after working with Bill on a cue for them.

Owning a cue from either maker would be something I strongly recommend.

Ah yes, Hangemhigh, the known sinner, and his famous avitar Abigail. I miss Abigail. McD's are monsters in every way. I liked the Bluegrass pj birdseye I had for a while, nice clean hit, but imo it paled in comparason. Nice ressurection!

McDaniel is a far superior cue imho.Bluegrass is a nice cue ,just not on the same level to me.Bill does superior work and have never heard a bad comment yet about his cues.Hopefully for you you'll get the Mcdaniel:)
