Bobby Pickle vs Johnny Archer

If they play even, Johnny will blister him. 12 ahead is a good set on a bar box.....takes some of the luck out of it. Dont forget that Johnny was a great gambler long before he became a great tourney player.

How did Pickle come out playing Kirkwood?
Not very good.

If they play I would say the game will be with the 8 and probably could be the 7. JMO

Will Pickle be allowed to run that big mouth game he likes against Johnny or will Johnny make him keep all that trash talking away from the table, I watched Pickle play a young Black kid two years ago at Carolina Open in Goldsboro on a barbox and I would have been using the other end of the stick if I was the kid.--Leonard

Bobby was having a few golden frostys at the time

Hahaha! I was there too...Pickle was playing 1 hand to the other guy's 2. Other gets ball in hand on the 7 and rides the 9...multiple times for $200(?) a game:eek: . they jack it up ($1k per, IIRC) and he starts running out

Action

I would also like some action on Pickle. He is playing very strong right now. If Archer gives any weight, Pickle will win. JMO

I talked to bobby tonight and he told me that he was supposed to match up with johnny archer on the bar box. He told me it was 12 ahead for set for 20000 in cookville Tennessee. He also stated that it was going to take place at the cue club {i think thats the name} in cookville sometime next week. Does anyone know if this is true? If any information pops up please post because I would like to go watch this game. thanks

charlie,

My thoughts on this are....
1. Pickle is going to need weight to have even a chance.
2. Somebody has to be backing Archer because he is too good of a family
man to gamble $20,000 from his ability to provide for his wife & children.
3. I hope there's a stipulation that when Pickle starts running his mouth,
he "fouls" for intentionally sharking. BIH to Archer. It's a POOL MATCH,
not a woofing contest. The only ones who mouth off the whole time are
shortstops. I'm not talking funny talk like Pagulayan or McCready, that's
OK. I mean the abrasive irratating gabbing that Pickle excells in. I don't
think that Pickle gets a whole lot of Christmas cards...

My thoughts on this are....
1. Pickle is smart enough to know if he beats Archer even up alot of action will disappear for him.
2.Pickle has been playing quite a bit in Cookeville, he'll have home court advantage.
3.Pickle will keep his mouth shut for about as long as Archer will keep from picking at the table. I'd take the under on that bet.

I'll look for Bobby this weekend but I doubt there is very much to this whole rumor.

your probably right. Please try to find out though thanks.

I have seen Pickle play a number of times (20-30) and he has always been a gentleman. I have never seen this sharking that people are talking about. I hate to hear that alot of people feel that way about him.

If I'm reading this right, you guys think Archer might be an even game, but Kirkwood has to give up the 8 or maybe the 7?

That is what I got too...wondering wtf too!

bobby vs johnny

i think bobby should play with the seven.anything less i think could be an action kill.i think going to twelve any players that speed can get there but it does stretch it out pretty good.

I have to agree with this. Everytime I've seen him play he's been real respectful. The only time I've seen him say anything is when he played Nick Hickerson, but with the way Hickerson crys anyone would mouth him. How did you do in Paris Charlie? Who won?

tourny.

Claude won. Pickle got 2nd. Charlie played very strong. I also have not ever seen pickle shark, always been very gentleman like.

I have known Pickle for a long time and he is usually very easy going and jokes with you win or lose. I have seen him get out of line but those occasions are few and far between anymore.

My take on the game is it won't be played with anything short of the 7 and it probably won't come off. I do know someone else who this weekend mentioned making the trip to Cookeville to get a piece of the pie. If I hear anything else definitive I might get into more detail. It is still in the planning stages trying to get the particulars worked out.

When Little Mac got back to Clarksville, he told me that if it came down to Claude and Pickle, he thought it would be an even money bet. Claude beat Mac at an eightball tournament in Illinois and played a perfect set. It was alternate break and the only mistake that Mac made was that he came up dry on his breaks. Everyone was saying they had some screwy cueballs or something? What's the story on that?

cue ball

I believe there was some throwing off during the claude, pickle game but oh well. Yeah the cueballs were horrible. They had a lightning bolt on them and that point was heavy, which ever side that was on the cue ball rolled. Never seen anything like it before.

Hambone,
If the Pickle would beat Archer even up, I would think that even more action would come his way because others would want his scalp on their resume. Plus, he could enter & compete in top tournaments, which would open more door for invites, possible sponsorship, etc. I don't think its ever an advantage to lose.
Your point #3 was very clever & pretty funny! You made me laugh :)
