Bobby Pickle vs Johnny Archer

The rack??

Does anyone know if they are talking about rack your own?? That will change the game dramatically, either one is subject to running the set out then on a bar box in my opinon.

If this game does go off and they are playing even, then the window is open to all that want to bet on Pickle. He has absolutely no chance in hell at beating Johnny. Again, cliff notes:

> I think Bobby needs a little weight, but not so much on a bar box. Even less on the 7 foot black Diamond at JOB's. Johnny is very capable on small tables, but a tad vulnerable,as his break doesn't seem to work as well as someone that specializes on them. It would be a game worth watching though.

> The Paris tournament,a yearly event associated with the World's Biggest Fish Fry,that a couple guys mentioned is a joke. It draws some strong players, but only those that haven't been there before. Once they see the horrible equipment that is usually provided, they rarely come back. The only time I went, they impressed me with having Dynamo bar boxes with Simonis. They negated that by using old, dirty ball sets with a dadgum slug ball. Those lightning-bolt balls are even worse. Tommy D.

I called today no information yet. Yes the table's had simonis on them but had these horrible balls. I had a chance to get in the final match but the cue ball rolled perfectly for position on the 8 ball and took a hook at the last second hooking behind the 14 ball.

I am wondering for some one to take a 12 game lead how many quarters they will drop into the slot by the end of the match?

I will be willing to put up one of the quarters. ;)

agreed

I know archer is the favorite but anyone of these guys are capable of putting down 12 racks. If it goes down I will bet a 100 on pickle. I just got a feeling that he can pull it off.

Hey let me say something to clear up my previous post about Pickle running his mouth, he honestly had every right in the world to raise cane at the young gay black guy he was gambeling with at the Carolina open a couple of years ago. His opponent was in Charlotte for a while before that and he is a loonytoon so that in my mind explains why Bobby was crowing so loud. I will admit that at another big tournament i saw him being a gentleman while playing matches.--Leonard

I've seen Mr. Pickle at both ends of the spectrum. My guess is that he struggles with himself just like the rest of us. Three or four years ago I saw him shouting at his opponent in a tournament to play the next game for $500, as his opponent was shooting the 8ball! Then, last year, I drew Mr. Pickle in the first round of the Grand Masters in the BCA tournament. I'd have to say, that was the most enjoyable match I've ever been involved in. To say he showed good sportsmanship would be a massive understatment. Oh, and he plays real real sporty on the barbox.

If Pickle gets tortured by Kirkwood how do you expect him to beat Archer?

This always kills me. Somebody says someone else has "no chance" but then invites everyone to bet even.

I used to have players barking at me telling me I have no chance to win so I would always ask for weight after they said that and they would refuse. So I would ask them if they only wanted to play when they have a lock because that's what they were saying if they wanted to gamble with me even after telling me I can't win.

I get what you are saying Corvette. And I don't think you are a nit. I think this is more of a way to express your opinion and back it up if someone cares to disagree.

I do think that someone who is trying to match up and makes the mistake f telling the guy he is trying to get down that he has no chance is either an idiot or a nit or both.

I do think Bobby has a chance though. On the little track he can dab it pretty good. But I am not willing to bet on it. :-)

If you will read my post, it says " if the game goes off , AND they are playing EVEN " . In my opinion, Bobby doesnt have a chance if they are playing EVEN and that is what I said. I also said that everyone can bet what they want if this is the case. I didn't say anything about a spot or gambling if there was a spot involved.

Who's smokin' what here. Have you ever seen Johnny book a loser? If so, I've never heard of it, and he used to live here in Raleigh.

Johnny used to go off when he was a youngster from what I hear. I actually know a guy that busted him twice when he was 17 or 18, but, by the time he was 19 he won his first pro tournament and has been winning them ever since. Archer should beat him on any table, no doubt. However, Pickle is very capable of hitting a high gear and winning a 12 ahead set on the bar table. I think if they bet 20,000 Johnny should make his stakehorses put up to ahead sets, anywhere from 12 to 15 games ahead, just to protect himself. Just my 2 cents.

I'll pass but I am sure you will be able to find some one to relieve you of that 100.

well the way I look at it. I would pay 100 dollars to see this match up so its not so bad

A 12-ahead match is supposed to be a long set, but between Pickle and Archer playing on a barbox, it could very well come down to who wins the coin flip. For example, I saw Hickerson play an 8-ahead set against a strong player once on a barbox. Hickerson won the flip, the other guy was lucky enough to get to kick twice, and that was the set. And Pickle gives Hickerson the 8. On a barbox with these two players, winning the flip may automatically put the other guy 6-9 games loser before he gets to the table.
