What Leon is trying to ask you is, "is it that white thing (called a skew jig) on the band saw that helps you get two points out of one block?"

If so, get it, it will double your money in the long run. I have one too, and it is worth every penny.
 
I mention it all the time. It's the nuts. You basically get 2 points out of One 3/4x3/4 square where normally you only get 1. So for a 35$ piece of ebony 1.5-1.5-18" you get 2 full cues. 8 points and 2 buttsleeves. 60$ you make that back in 2 cues
 
I also want too add it looks screwy and difficult but it's actually easy. Any one that needs help I will help as well as bob. Bob is a great guy as well as a very under ryes maker. One of the best in the world IMO.
 
Anything you get from Bob is quality. He is a dedicated and intelligent craftsman. He has helped me alot and hasnt charged me a penny. In my opinion his time is valuable and to share it with other cuemakers is terrific. I made a jig for planning the point stock just like on one of his videos and it works great. The pieces are true 90 degrees and fit into the v grooves perfect. Im always waiting for another video to learn something new.

Bobs website is deff the best in the buisness. I appreciate that bob takes the time to share his knowledge of cuemaking from a machinist standpoint.

I agree that Bob is very knowledgeable and helpful. I don't use that particular jig but I used an adjustable fence that is the same principle. If you are using that jig and only getting 2 points you are not using it correctly. If you think about it and use any veneers you can actually get four points out of a 3/4-3/4 square if you are a little clever. In this way you can get points for four cues and butt caps for two.

I there is a way to get 4 points I would love to see it. After clean up my squares are under .700 when glued up. There isn't much left after that ESP with fat points at the bottom

Well, I'm a betting man if anyone is interested. My V-points go to .020 from the center of the prong so they are extra wide but I always use veneers also so the center wood doesn't need to be as thick. Let me just put it this way. I don't care what the dimension of point wood is, If you can get two points out of it then I or you can get 4 with no problem what so ever. Anybody like to bet?

Believe me, it would be a sucker bet if you fell for it. I have a bunch of 1 X 2 X 12 inch ebony that I bought a number of years ago and I cut in half length wise, cut to about 9 inch in length, run through a joiner to square each piece and then run through a drum sander so that it is very smooth and sharp corners. I then cut each piece four times on the band saw and get four points. I've done it this way on every 4-point cue I've built for 3 or 4 years now. I figured someone starting out making V-bottomed cues might not be aware of how to do it this way but I'm rather shocked that most every cue maker would figure this out very quickly. I was under the impression that that was the reason everyone bought Bob's jig. Like I said earlier, I don't use Bob's jig as I made my own and have been using it since before Bob showed his jig. Have you fellows never noticed how much wood gets turned into chips when you are only cutting 2 points out of a square?

These particular points aren't cut as deeply so not as wide as I do them now. Right now there is only around a 1/32 inch between points.

So you're telling me I can get 16 points out of a 1.5x1.5x10" piece. Hell I'd bet 50$ for you to show me EXACTLY how you did it. :-) i paid 60$ for bobs jig. Hahaha
