Fast Lenny,

Jennie, you are misinforming people once again. BB had a banner on this forum in the past I am positive of that unless my eyes were lying to me. If you do not realize it is mainly forum members who are posting about Bonus Ball and not employees starting these threads here, we just respond and some members would rather not have us do that and just stay misinformed and clueless when we are giving them some of the inside scoop. If you think Bonus Ball is the big bad wolf then just contact one of the players yourself to find out more info. I do thank those who have made nearly every Bonus Ball thread go into the double digits because it really has been great advertising.
I have never seen a banner ad on this forum about Bonus Ball. I'm here pretty frequently too. I'm not misinforming anyone. I am relaying what I see with my own eyeballs.
If they had in the past, where is it now? Isn't Bonus Ball in full swing of the first season? I mean, I don't know how much a banner ad is, but compared to those millions of dollars BB claims it's paying out, a couple-hundred-dollar banner ad on the biggest pool website that exists on the Internet might just be a good idea.
And don't kid yourself, Lenny. There are plenty of Bonus Ball staff members who are creating brand-new threads on this forum.
I have been in contact with some of the Bonus Ball members. They are afraid to speak out because they don't want to do anything to thwart them from getting a paycheck for dancing like a monkey on an empty purple stage.
If this is the kind of advertising you like, Lenny, then more power to you. You would think Bonus Ball might be better served to attract people in the pool world with niceties and not flipplant replies. You are starting to fall in the same camp as your counterparts on Bonus Ball. Never thought you'd flip like that, Lenny, but I guess when in Bonus Ball Land, do as the Bonus Ball people do, right?
...What you hear on this forum sometimes is a good scoop and other times it just stinks like monkey poop.
Okay, you got me with that line. :rotflmao1::rotflmao1::rotflmao1:
I do hope one day your opinion on Bonus Ball changes, the players are very positive about it and paycheck aside they are hoping it leads to a good future for them. I know it has been painted as malice with the scheduling but that was not the case, only so many weeks in the year and the players were asked what they would like to do and also have the freedom to play in what they like.
The players are not locked down so by working with the players they are also working with the rest of the industry by giving the players a choice and lots of leeway. If the events have a poor turnout because of Bonus Ball then I could see the complaining about it being warranted but it is not so as of now and is just speculation. I believe 22 of the 36 Bonus Ball players are in the Ultimate 10 Ball Championships, so that should say something right there.
I appreciate the reply, but the real area of concern was not Ultimate. It was Southern Classic, which hasn't taken place yet. Time will tell.![]()
I do believe Johnny Archer, Scott Frost, and many other Bonus Ball guys will be there. When I spoke to Scott he said he was going to be there for 10 days. If you look at the schedule for Bonus Ball it shows the teams that are playing. There are many Bonus Ball players who will be free to attend as usually most weekends have 5-7 teams playing and the rest are off and those players that want off can call in an alternate to take his place.
Do you know how many BB players are scheduled to be in the Big Foot Challenge at the Southern Classic? I do know some withdrew *after* the Bonus Ball rescheduled their season. I think this is what was disconcerting to some. If Bonus Ball would have not rescheduled on top of other events, none of this back-and-forth would have occurred, Lenny.
Of any of the players who pulled out, did any of them pay and request their money back or were they tentative attendees?

I only know for sure of one who did request their money back, and the refund was issued promptly.
The others, I'm not sure if they paid their entry fee beforehand or just committed by asking to put their name on the list.
I know Mike Zuglan of the Joss Tour will not put anyone's name on a list of confirmed players until he receives the entry fee. I understand that. :grin-square:
The word "tenative attendees" usually doesn't apply to a tournament like the Big Foot Challenge, which has a limited player field, unlike larger tournaments which offer a bigger player field, like, say, the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship with 200-some players.
Believe it or not, some people based their decision on whether to attend an event like the Southern Classic based on who's going to be there. Now, this would not affect my decision-making process if I was going to an event, but for many, it does affect their decision whether to go or stay home.
It is really simple, Bonus Ball is a business but they have tried to cater very much to the players because most of us on the team do care about the players and the future of pool. If Bonus Ball wanted to they could have locked down the players restricting them from events but they are trying to be fair and flexible but still need to have a weekly show not just for PPV but also people who come to the venue along with mainly producing video regularly. I know all of this talk about good will, PR and so on but you cannot expect Bonus Ball to shut down for weeks here and there throughout the year prolonging the already delayed season and costing tens of thousands of dollars in the process while others in the industry lose nothing and only gain at the expense of Bonus Ball.
What about players who do not attend these events or financially cannot and want to work doing Bonus Ball that week?, should they just be told sorry but no soup for you because we had to shut down for this event and then down the road another event. Those who want to attend events can do so simple as that, that is what alternates are for so the regular guys most likely will be there this year like they were last year and if not then its not because of Bonus Ball but because of financial reasons or personal choices.
Instead of all the energy spent here on the negative, lets focus on the positive things which is the players making some money and also perhaps finding constructive solutions that are logical to improve things in the industry. I do hope the top guys get in the same room sometime in the near future and put their heads together and leave egos at the door because they could turn around pro pool, make a profit and support the players.
SBE pro events have 'tenative' beside players names before they pay. That's where I was going with that.
Personally, if I wanted to play an event and the players list was almost full IE Zuglan, I'd see who else was playing to make my decision.
Southern Classic will be a great event, all of this negative talk and finger pointing is horrible for everyone. I wish 'we' had a 'wait and see' stance this whole time rather than trying to drag someone's name through the mud and all of this back and forth.
I'll make a friendly wager, that says Greg Sullivan tells you that the Southern Classic was a success in his eyes. Post event, even though the evil demon Bonus Ball is trying to take over the world.
I'll wager one bottle of Canadian maple syrup.
Bet? You can pick what you bet on your side.
Well, purchasing an ad banner on this forum might be a good start for Bonus Ball. For me, it would show that they are reaching out to the entire pool community, i.e., railbirds, industry members, players, et cetera.
No bet. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Betting on an Internet forum with members you don't know is for suckers.
In real life, do you know how many stone-cold gamblers welch on bets with their bookmakers? They disappear when they get in over their head. It happens all the time. We all know people on both sides of the fence where this has occurred.
If you ever come down my way and I see you, I'll buy you a beverage of your choice. How's that?!
