Hey folks,
I have about 500 squares of bowling alley shaft wood ready to ship
Here is the story... A friend of mine helped another friend taking a bowling floor apart and kept all the wood (smart guy).
The grain in the wood is sick and very straight and tight.
The worst squares I have are at least 14gpi and most of it is so tight that you can not even count.
The squares are not pretty in the outside but on your first pass they are clean as a baby butt.
The youngest bowling alley boards are at least 40 years old and I still have about 1800/2000 squares to cut.
There are no nails in the squares, just some nail groves on the outside of some squares that on your first pass will be cleaned.
Some of the boards have CANADA stamped on it so this means that these squares are good old Canadian maple.
The squares are at least 34"/36" long and at least 1 1/8".
The price will be $15.00/$17.00 depending on quantity and and they will be sold on a first come first serve basis. The low gpi will be $15.00 and the high gpi will be $17.00 plus shipping UPS Ground to save you some money.
This kind of stuff does not come by everyday so, might as well get high quality shaft squares.

I have heard these take a pounding from the balls and can be subject to cracks. Is there any way you can check for cracks? Can the be magnafluxed somehow or X-rayed? Were they used with big balls or candlepin?

There are no crack in the wood. All the stuff that had nails, cracks and any other damage was thrown away.
As far as X-raying the wood it will not tell you anything most likely, I am also not willing to spend close to 1k on x-raying a piece of wood. All I can say is when you see the profile of the squares they are perfect, no cracks or damage.
These squares are Canadian rock maple of the tightest grain I have ever seen, period. I have seen other sites selling similar shaft wood between $22.50 and $40.00 and they do not even come close to the quality of these squares.
I have about 380 squares left.

Tony, I'll take 20 of them. Steve Call me
Thanks Steve. I will give you call later.

Sure Mario.
Send me your info so I can send you a quote on the shipping. You were just in time as well since I am sold out!!!

Sold out of the entire 500 or sold out of the higher growth ring count sticks?

I'd like 5 if the lower counts are still available.

Thanks

Gary

Never mind - I just saw the answer in the For Sale section - all 500 are gone.

Even at $15 a square, that's $7500 gross in 27 hours elapsed time!! I gotta find me one of those gigs!!

Let us know when you get some more cut up.

I have some of my own stock that I can get you.
Send your info so I can send you billing information. I need to quote you the shipping. Should not be too much for 5 squares.

Cleaned up

After the clean up passes-appear pretty straight grained or BE? or curly?

for future reference if more units become available downstream.

thanks
