Box Cases

I love the box case style and am wondering if there are any decent brands that anyone can recommend, I'm not finding many out there. I'm assuming it fell by the wayside due to larger storage capacity of the tube cases.

Somebody posted recently that Oneal is back up and running.

They are the best mass produced IMHO.

Roger Taft (High Trucker). He is a member here but he hasn't been around for some time. We used to keep in touch via email. He got married so you know that goes.

He may still sell on EBay as well and did have a web site.

I bought my wife one of his and they are very well built for the money.

The O'Neils look great BTW.

I likes me a nice box case like an O'Neil to keep 'DOOM' in.

An O'Neil box case is fine, Terry.
But don't EVER buy a Pandora box case....
..'cause when you bring out 'Doom', a lotta other stuff comes with it.....
..like 'the dog ate my stoke', 'this table is not level', 'somebody moved',
'I always play bad when my old lady yells at me'...etc

Schmelke's are quality cases. Seyberts has them. Would be my choice.

OzoneBilliards has brand X close outs at very good prices.

Hightrucker92 makes some gorgeous wooden box cases...
Absolutely gorgeous, a bit too far out of my price range as I'm just a beginner and can't justify a custom case...yet.

They look great, the only website I can find for them says "Dealer inquiry only". Does this mean they only deal in large orders and will not process a single 1x1 case?

I think I'll start making box cases when i retire. looks like fun.
A lot easier to make than this was

thanks for the links. I like box cases, the latches always lose their spring in my cheap ones...

I know I, and have a feeling most others here, would love to see what you can do with a simple box. That table is beautiful, I also llike that the mirror is labeled mirror.

I called the number on the Magic Billiards website but it says it's disconnected, not too surprising given how old the site looks. Is there another way of contacting the company?

I don't know. It was posted in the gallery a while back that they were back up and running.

The person that posted it said they knew the owner I think.

Magic Billiard is in New York. Although they have the most complete listing of these products I have seen online, they aren't the manufacturer. O'neil is in Wisconsin.

I found this:

O'neil Leather Specialties Inc

O'neil Cue Cases
1600 Junction Avenue
Racine, WI 53403-2523
Phone: (262) 637-3866

I haven't tried it though.

EDIT: I don't believe they have a web site.

Thank you, I'll try that number later.

There is another one too. The other one is a "Deluxe".

Both have rusty hardware, and honestly you'll pay as much for one of those as you will a brand new one as far as I can tell. If they are making them you are better off waiting for a new one.

I almost bought a "Deluxe" for 50 plus 20 shipping but that is what a new one costs.

If you do want one from Ebay and you miss one, just wait, there will be another. Sometimes they are rough, sometimes very nice.

I have wanted one for a long time yet have hesitated to pull the trigger many times on used ones for one reason or another.

That one you show and the other one I just passed up had condition issues that made me pass.
