I want an American Made dedicated break cue. I'm thinking Tiger Impact, OB Break, or some version of a Stinger (I know it's a J/B). If you are using any of these, please submit pros & cons.
Thanks.

Just to show that we can do more than that style here is my personal playing set:

I have an original stinger and couldnt be happier. Most jump break cues I have used either jumped great and broke ok, or broke great and jumped ok. This one does both great!

I had an original, Jerico Stinger. Mine had the phenolic tip. It was fantastic. I broke and jumped wonderfully. You were asking about a dedicated break cue and this is probably one of the only jump/breaks out there that is worth it, even if you only use it as a break cue.

That said, I recently had a chance to hit a Predator BK (not BK2) butt that was fitted with the OB break shaft. I liked it so much that I sold the Stinger and bought an OB break shaft for a cue that I had recently acquired. It is a good, strong butt and the break shaft is working out nicely. I just had it fit to the cue last night, and only have about an hour on the table with it, but after I dialed in the stroke a bit I was hitting it just as hard as I was with the Stinger and the cue ball was squatting on command.

Either way, you can't go wrong. One thing though, is that I do prefer the OB break shaft over the Jerico Stinger break shaft if only for the taper. The taper is thinner on the OB break shaft. I feel like I am getting the same cue power and the thinner taper is easier to slide through a closed bridge. The Samsara tip that came on the OB is great too, but you could have the tip changed on anything you get.

Thanks,

Mike

I had Steve Lomax make me one of his jump/breaks and it is a hot cup of awesome. It breaks and jumps like a champ and anyone I know that has used it wants it for their own.

American j/b cue

I can hook you up with any Stinger or Sledgehammer for a nice discount, just PM me.

I had a Sledgehammer and it was the best breaking cue I ever had. The Gulyassy custom j/b I have is close. The sledgehammer shaft just doesn't lose any power, very hard hitter.

Many other good ones mentioned here as well.

I had the chance to get a OB Break cue in a trade , never hit a ball with it,walked into the poolhall and asked a guy if he was interested.
He said I have 4 break sticks now,I know how much they are,how can it be worth that? I said I don't know lets see.He racked up 9 balls,I put the cue together, chalked it and CRACKED that rack! I have a good break, but the
feel of the cue was truelly amazing! I told him that was unreal, you need to
try this.He broke one time and bought the cue from me!
I did not get the cue to keep that is why I sold it. I have bought two more
since then and only sold one. The other is mine to keep! I prefer 14.1 and
1-pocket to "smash break" games, but I have a damn good break stick if I need it!
Try everybodies break stick and I am quite sure you too will love the OB!

I am convinced I prefer maple shafts to any and all LD's for play but that
break-stick is for real!
