Break from the box tips?

I did a search and went through about 4 pages of threads without finding what I was looking for.

Can anyone offer some break from the box tips for 9 ball? Videos would help, I searched quickly for Donnie Mills videos on Youtube and I'll check again later for them as he seems to have it down.

I spent a lot of time learning how to break from the rail and I have a couple weeks to have a somewhat decent break from the box.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Dan

Place the CB at the corner of the box, aim to hit 3/4 of the 1, and whack 'em.

Break Box

It's harder to make the 1 in the side from the box so I put a bit of draw on the CB to pull it back. The 1 for me consistently ends up at the top of the table, sometimes near the end rail. I can't play the 1 in the side like I can when breaking from the rail.

Practice the break, that's all you can do. For me it's easier to scratch in the opposite side hold when breaking in the box. Need to make sure to hit the 1 squarely, towards the center and the scratch comes into play.

As the OP stated move the CB to the far corner of the box and hit them hard enough to make something (usually the wing ball on the side when the CB is placed), and keep the 1 up table, but off the end rail. Watch where the wing ball hits on the rail and adjust the hit on the 1 ball until you make it consistently.

Hit it hard!

I've actually been breaking from the box. Exactly where you place the cue ball will depend on how that particular table is breaking.

Now, I'm not trying to make a particular ball in a particular pocket. So for me (and you probably already know this), wherever you place the cue ball, hit the one ball full, as though you were hitting a straight in shot. The full hit is the best way to transfer the most energy to the stack. I usually place the cue ball about two balls to the side of the head spot, then adjust from there if I'm coming up dry. I also use perhaps just a tad above center ball to help the CB squat. If I'm going to use draw at all it is not to squat the CB but to send it to the head rail then back to the middle of the table.

Hope this helps.

Some good tips so far, Im going to go practice now!

Ive been told a cut break works well from the edge of the box and throw a little spin on it and try to be in the middle of the table. So far that hasnt been working for me. If things are going bad, I'll break like Im hitting an 8 ball rack and probably hit a spectator in the 9th row..... haha.
