You have your PC to change from one program to another, or do whatever, so WHY have this device? Am, I missing something here? Hell, it's going to your USB port anyway....More wires and crap to get in the way...

maybe if your computer was really far away from the CNC machine.

That's what joggers are for.
Can't take the keyboard neart the spindle all the time.
By being on USB, less chance of interfering with the parallel port.

the keyboard is usually right there though.i haven't seen a setup yet that is farther than a few feet.i ee the use of the machine maybe in an extreme situation but i see what Blud is saying.

What I have is a wireless trackball and a regular wheel mouse, both connected to the computer. The wheel mouse stays with the keyboard and the wireless is close to the cnc. Either one will operate the program, have not had any problems with this set up.
