Brief pictures of Diamond's new 10ft ProAm.

What happens on a 2 pocket table when you get all the remaining balls up table in a wedge. You could sit there and thin off the balls for eons. You can't do that on a normal table because eventually the balls in the corner have to go in the pocket and then subsequently get spotted up.

What creates that wedge you're talking about...IS the head corner pockets by the fact that you can't bank a ball 2 rails back down the table because of the corner pockets being there. Think about it, how dumb would it be to leave your opponent a 2 rail bank out of them pockets right back into their own pocket at the foot of the table?;)

realkingcobra, These universal carom pocket inserts are new! They are not "pocket blockers", They are real cushions. and they adjust in minutes to fit your table and they fit snuggly in the corner and side pockets. It is true, that no carom pockets inserts will ever replace a real carom table, they are not meant to!. However, for the first time these inserts will convert your pool table into a carom table and they will give one the chance to play carom games on a pool table that replicates in a reasonable fashion, the feel of playing on a real carom table. This device is not meant for the advanced carom player, it is not suggested for tournament play, but since it came out two years ago it has given many new carom players a chance to try games such as 3-cushion billiards on their pool table.

Hi Glen. Why not just design and produce a 12 foot super snooker table?

I would love to see a 6x12 with Diamond pockets.
Leather pockets have been spitting the balls out for a hundred years.
Diamond pockets are the best.

The 5x10 would be great with 4 sets of rails....pool, snooker, and the
Joplin style 1-hole rails....
..and 3-cushion rails should be a different height...no pocket blockers for me.

Dan, I hear what you're saying buddy, but never-the-less...in the end, they're still pocket blockers no matter what anyone wants to call them...after all, what are they doing...but blocking the pockets from balls going into them;) Real billiards is played with balls of at least 61 1/2mm in size, with a cushion nose height of 1 9/16" and if you're playing 3C, it's played on Rapeid 300 Simonis billiard cloth, and on a 5'x10'. Straight rail is played on anything from a 7ft to a 9ft. No matter what, if you bank a ball right at the seam of the pocket blocker and the rail cushion where they meet, you get a different bank as opposed to right in the middle of the blocker, I know...I've been around the pool world for almost 50 years, and working on pool tables ever since Sept 1983:grin:

Wow, now that would take quite a bit of strategy away from the game. Although I know somewhere it's been done.

$11,500 !!!!! Looks like I'll be shooting up and down hill for quite a while! :(
Joplin, MO had 2 of these tables...it was pretty interesting, though you can really turn the cue ball loose as there is virtually no scratch risk! Probably the coolest looking shot was with an object ball frozen on the long rail you can cut the ball along the rail into the corner without a pocket and it rebounds perfectly back along the rail and into your pocket....pretty wild the first time you see it!

Dan,

I personally feel you should start your own thread about your pocket inserts. This thread was about Diamond's new 10 foot developments. I feel your post kind of hijacked this thread and was in bad taste.

Regarding RKC, most of the time I feel he is a very knoweldgable and experienced bully. But in this case he has every right to slam your pocket inserts.

And he is 100% correct, they are pocket blockers.

Regards,
Mark

That's on my drawing board, but the 9ft 3C and 9ft One Pocket tables are coming out first, and will be on show at the BCA trade show, as well as down in Tunica;)

RKC,
Awesome table, I may be in the market for one.

However, I would say that heating the table is more for consistency in play than in getting any abnormally long rolls (though it will maximize the roll on the table). I would definitely want heated slate.

Would this frame handle 2 inch thick slates? I don't want a 10 footer unless I can get 2 inch slates (several old pros swear they play better with the thicker slate).

realkingcobra, Thank you for your commentary about the 'Universal Carom Pocket Inserts"! I know about your reputation as one of the best mechanics in the game and I respect your opinion. I have heard this from many people! However, again I must repeat that these inserts will not magically turn a pool table into a world class heated carom table, I know what the difference is!, I currently have set up at my residence both a Gold Crown 4 and a heated Soren Sogaard carom table. {photo] I too have been involved in the game for more than 60 years and I have played many current and former champions in both carom billiards and pool. In 1981 I won a match against Willie Mosconi, so I know a little bit about the game! [photo in az] I am trying is to introduce pool players to carom billiards so that they can enjoy a beautiful game that they may not have access to otherwise! I am a retired Architect/ Residential Designer and I am not doing this for profit!--------- I would like to invite you to come and visit me in Hilton Head, S.C. so you can enjoy playing carom billiards on a gold crown 4. with 'Syn-Surf", [ a synthetic surface that is used to replicate the speed of a carom table] and see for yourself what the real difference is.

Dan,

This is not your thread. Do you know how to start your own thread?

Do you really think a player can feel a difference between 1" slate and 2" slate? And if that's true, and this is to be the best table Diamond can build. Should they not be using a 2" slate?

I don't mind dan bennicas posting in this thread about his pocket blockers, it don't really take away anything from the subject of the Diamond 10'...and who knows, I may just design a 10' 3C for Diamond in the near future;);)

Would this frame handle 2 inch thick slates? I don't want a 10 footer unless I can get 2 inch slates (several old pros swear they play better with the thicker slate).

There's a reason slate manufactures make the 1" slate as the standard thickness on most pool tables. A long time ago it was determined that the sound effect of the balls rolling on slate were inaudible when the slate reached the thickness of 1", therefore any thicker slate made no difference in the sound of the balls rolling across it, so the 1" slate was adopted as the standard in the industry. Before that, it was thought that the thicker slates were needed to make a pool table play right. Billiard tables however, because of the size of the balls, and the very thin cloth used to give more distance to the rolls, still require a thicker slate for more stability in the size of the table, being 5'x10', same as with snooker tables. Thicker slates on the larger tables make it easier to maintain level across the wider span of the playing surface. The "Old Pro's" also swear by the old style thick nap cloth as a better playing cloth, so is that true...or is it that they're just not able to adapt to the changing, and improving times, like playing on Simonis, instead of carpet:grin: And yes, this frame would handle the 60mm (2 3/8") billiard slate with no problem;)

That'll never happen;)

This is true. It is because pool players will ***** and moan no matter the playing surface. If you give them a 9 footer, they'll claim that they can beat you on a 10 footer. If you give them a 10 footer, they'll claim that they can beat you playing snooker on a 6 X 12. Fine. Whatever. Just shut the f@$k up and raise the bet...

New Diamond Cart

Glen,

Show the pictures of the new Diamond cart that we get to flip that BEAST up on. It must have a 2 part platform or a recess in the middle to accept that side leg? 2" aluminum square tubing would be a good place to start!!!

Does $11,500 include the cart?

Take care,,
