A guy by me is offering this table for 250 bucks.

BRUNSWICK-BALKE COLLENDER . Says made in 1896 with original stencil. Are these any good or more troible than worth?

It really is hard to say. Call it a B.B.C is like saying i have a Chevy for sale.
It could be a corvette or a p.o.s chevette!! Also, just because something is old does not make it valuable. condition is also important.

Post some pics and we will go from there.

I would also add that the brunswicks don't have a made in date ...they say 1896 on them ....because that is when they started makin em....actually they started in 1845 ....but that's a different story

my 1916 Kling says the same thing .....

go to the website and try to match up the table ...

http://www.brunswickbilliards.com/our_rich_history/antique_tables/index.html

then some pictures of the wood, pockets etc ...will give us a better idea of the value etc...

Also make sure you can check the condition of the rubber before you buy. If it's got old BBC rubber on it that doesn't exist, you'll need some modification to the rails to be able to replace with modern rubber. You're getting into some expense there, so check before you buy.

Oh, i didn't know that was the original name. I thought that was a model name! Oops. Here is listing.

i don't know man ...that sucker is rough ... and if the internals (rubber and slate ) are in the same condition as the outside i would say this thing would need some work ....

clearly it is missing the rail skirts, veneers etc ...which also makes it hard to identify ....

The date doesn't matter and it looks rough but if the slates were good I'd snap it up for $200 - $250 and make it a project table.

if all the parts are there, and nothing is "broken", its worth $250 all day.
but in that condition, thats about all its worth. brunswick or not - its still a low end model.

but if any major parts (legs, frame, rails) are mismatched from a different table model, forget about it. sell it for parts.

Thanka guys. That is exactly what i needed. Not worth it to me. Appreciate it. I am combing the craigslist boarda for a table. I think i want a 9 foot and they are hard tp come by. Plus, the antiques are real cool. I may have to just wait for a newer 9 ft Olhausen or see if a gold crown comes around somewhat close to me. Or a gangy big g is good also i heard? Or brunswick anniversary is a good choice as well apparantly??

There is a very nice looking Brunswick Gold crown I for sale on ebay with a $600 buy- it- now price that looks like a steal! They don't know that it's a Gold Crown, they just have it listed as a 1965 Brunswick. It is definitely worth a bit of a drive, not for me,I'm in Texas.
