Brunswick Cue?

Looking for any info. on this cue. I was told it was an older Brunswick with checkerboard inlays. If so does anyone know the value of it? Overall in very good shape for it's age.

The Cue is just what it says it it, it was made in Japan for Sears back in the late 60's or Early 70's. The joint is typical made there including Brunswick's from that time, the thing that dates the cues the most is the joint which was designed by Schmelke and was used by them to make Brunswick cues until late 1969 when all production for Brunswick was moved to Japan. I would suspect that the same factor was making cues for Sears at the time, the inlays look similar to those used in Brunswick cues.

Bad news is there is no collector value in these cues that I am aware of, so they are worth little even in the current condition of the cue you posted photo's of in this thread.

Thanks for the reply's. Damm thing hits well even for being 22 oz's. I'm hoping if I remove the weight I can get it closer to 19, 19.4.
 
I don't know, the marquetry is very accurate and precise and the veneer work, though simple, is nicely done.
The handle could be of a rosewood construction though that would be just a guess.
I agree with Craig, that's certainly the Schmelke jnt.

This is not a garage-sale cue. This one's a step up.
Japan, right? Think Mezz. I'll bet there's a grapevine connection.
 
It's a cheap import. It says processed in japan right on the cue. Lol. I would guess if you paid 20$ you paid too much. JMO

I didn't pay anything for it. It came with a 1965 Brunswick table that I used to own.
 
Apparently, David doesn't think much of your 'import' cue.
If you're of the same mind, I'll gladly give you $20 for it.
 
I don't like or dislike it either way. I just pointed out the obvious. It says made in japan right on the sticker. Japan = import last time I checked. And he did ask for a value of the cue. I ave my honest opinion. If you are willing to pay 20$ for the cue good for you. If he approached me and said "this cue is for sale for 20$." I would respectfully decline. :-)

It's all relative. Last time I checked USA = import around here !

Terry - Who happens to like imported Cigarettes and beer from the USA.

Yay for Bush beans, we can finally buy them here. Just have to figure out how to get my hands on some cheap Cohibas.

Yer welcome Javi. I wasn't putting your cue down, I was teasing Dave.
Thats what I do, I tease people and try to make them laugh. Try it sometime, it makes the day go by much nicer.
