I have a chance on buying either table, gold crown will probably be$500 more... Problem with the gold crown is it had gold castings which I prefer the chrome. Metro is exactly how I want it. Is gold crown 3 THAT MUCH BETTER???

Yes, yes it is for sure. Do yourself a favor and get the GC - spend a little extra and either buy the castings or have these chromed.

This may be too general of a question but is any hardwood used on " furniture style " tables? Also what type is the hardwood used on GC's?
How much would getting them powder coated run me?
8 don't know....you'll have to check prices in your area of the world, up in Washington state I get the powder coating done at $5.00 per piece.
I don't understand the importance of the question as hardwood, or the lack of, has nothing to do with the overall design of a pool table, other than some tables burn hotter than others....LOL

Poplar has been widely used in tables for over 100 years. In the era of what are now
antiques, it was usually veneered with Oak, Mahogany, etc.
