I am looking at both of these used tables. The Metro 8' with ball return is 4 yrs old and also includes Metro cue rack, light, balls (might be centennial set) and 4 cues. Needs re cover of slate. Excellent cond. All for $1,600. Seller paid $7,500 for all 4 yrs ago new. I haven't seen many reviews of the Metro model. Any owners here on the forum?
The 8' Olhausen is $500 and needs new cloth on slate.
Not sure of the model. I believe that it is solid Cherry wood.
Opinion of these tables and deals would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Metro. Several major titles have been played on them so the playability should be better. I'm not a fan of olhausen tables

I have played on both, and both play well. Don't know why anyone would pay $7500 for a Metro, when you can buy a Gold Crown for the same price (and a Diamond for less than that), but maybe they saw him coming! LOL Seems to me that the Ohlhausen is a better deal. You're gonna be in Metro at least $2000+ after cloth and setup...half that for the Olhausen.

Yes the Olhausen will be half the cost. And this deal is just for the table.
With the cost of this table plus move and new cloth it will probably cost me under $1,200 total.
The Metro total will be in the under $2,500 range. Double the price but is it worth it?
Note that the Metro is in new cond. and only 4 yrs old plus with this deal I am getting the 8 stick matching Metro rack (about $500 new), 4 Brunswicks sticks, light etc plus the centennial ball set which I could sell on Ebay for a couple of hundred.
The seller paid $7,500 but this was for the whole package deal.
The Olhausen age is unknown but it probably is over ten years old and shows signs of wear.

resale on the Metro will stay higher tho if you have to unload it... I sold an Olhausen I had paid 2700 for with perfect cloth for 700 and felt lucky to get that....

danny;

Generally, Brunswick tables are more widely known and that can be helpful if you ever look to sell.

Olhausen tables are known to have difficult pockets due to pocket cut angles and a long shelf. Basically, this means they won't always accept balls that they should and that can be frustrating.

My vote would be with the Metro since you said it was in excellent cond and comes with all of the listed accessories but I would probably offer $1000 - $1200.

His starting price was 2k. I offered $1,200. He came back with $1,800. I offered to split the difference at $1,500 . He came back with $1,600 and that was the end of our dealing.
Considering the new prices of everything seems like a great deal. I appreciate everyones help. I knew nothing about the metro. Does anyone here own this model?

I've been playing almost exclusively on Olhausens for the last 5 months, as someone mentioned the pockets can be very frustrating. There was a post a while back showing what has to be done to correct the situation, very extensive modifacations. Personally you couldn't give me an Olhausen.

Thanks to everyone for your advice.
I thought things over and see that the Metro will run me close to $2,500 with all expenses tallied up. The price is approaching the cost of a new home table.
I have read a lot about the pocket problems on the Olhausen so I am hesitant on getting that one. I recently got a lead on an excellent condition Connelly Durango for $400. plus move/setup. The pics look great and from what I have researched online Connelly has more pos reviews than neg. I can get into this table (which really looks new) with all costs for under $1,000 and this includes new Simonis cloth. I think that this might be the best deal out of these three tables or for that matter any used table. When I lived in Key Largo years ago a friend had one of these tables and I spent many nights playing on it. It played real well from what I remember.
Any Connelly owners on this forum?
