I hope Buddy is alright!

I think he caught a strain of FAT. Seriously, as a fairly young guy who has serious heart issues in his family, had seriously high cholesteral at age 29, and now exercises every day and watches what he eats (as well as popping back a Lipator every night) I can honestly say that Buddy Hall NEEDS to exercise, eat healthy, and loose a ton of weight. If you are in the shape he is in you are going to feel poorly most of the time, he has been so large for so long I doubt he even knows what it feels like to be in good shape and be healthy any more. I know it sucks to miss out on the treats of life, see the choclate bar on the shelf at the super market and have to pass on it despite the fact you would love to eat the cheap little thing. So goes life when you have the issues he has with weight and want to be healthy and live longer. He better take a long hard look at Steve Mizerak and ask himself if that is where he wants to be in 10 years if the stroke gets him before the heart attack does. It is there or in his grave and it does not have to happen that way if he takes this under control now.
I guess Buddy did move back to KY/IL as he said he was going to do lately. Both the #'s I have for him are NG and it has been over three weeks since we have spoken.
As far as Buddy's weight - he has tried almost everything to come along and fights the good fight. HE IS TRYING BUT THAT ALSO TAKES Its TOLL.
I personally am under the belief that some (not all) people are predestined to be a certain weight. I know in my case, I was 240 in High School and 0 fat. Football Tackle. After playing Pool for a couple of years, it became fat because I stopped the exercise and hung in the poolroom. I stayed at 310 lbs until I was 27 and decided to lose the weight. I got hooked on a book by a Dr. Braeg and it was all about extreme fasting. Also Dick Gregory was an advocate at that time. In 6 months I lost 140 lbs and worked out at a health club every morning and night (before the poolroom and again before bed). It worked great and I kept it off for 5 years so it was legitimate weight loss. NO DRUGS WHAT SO EVER. My doctor made me eat a very small salad once a week to keep something going through my rear end. I also found the girls (or they found me) so I swore I would never be over 200 lbs again.
Well I started making some major scores (At Gin) and met my future wife. We ate out every night "On The Hill" here in St. Louis and slowly BUT surely.
About 8 years ago at a family funeral I saw a pic of my Grandfather that I have never known or seen. WE ARE IDENTICAL TWINS IN EVERY ASPECT OF OUR APPREARANCE. I couldn't believe it. I don't think that it is just lifestyle & or eating habits that determine our weight. I think a lot of it (if not all of it) is in our genes.
One thing I know for sure, I am a hell of a lot happier and content at the weight I have been at for over 20 years now (310 lbs), exactly what I was before the weight loss. I eat what, where & when I want and I never vary more than 5 lbs.
I really hope Buddy gets over what ever it is that wrong with him - BUT - I also hope he finds the peace and mental power that comes with being content with playing the hand we are all dealt.
After all, if Buddy or I lost 150 lbs, ran 6 miles a day and ate nothing but healthy foods - we both would still die.
