Buddy Hall's New "Derby" Cues

JAM, sweetheart, if I had only known you were back posting too I would have been back much sooner. I'm just biding time till January trying to dissolve a blood clot in my leg so I can do the bypass surgery then....

I am so sorry to hear that you are having to deal with the medical stuff. I hate doctors, and I hate going to them. You are a brave man. You are very fortunate to have a loving family. Of course, you have a loving family right here on this forum too. ;)

Posting here is the same. Sometimes you're up; sometimes you're down. The subject matters are cyclical, and it almost seems as if there's not much new to discuss on the forum. So, in sum, you can take a break from the forum and pick right up where you left off!

Stay in touch, Bill. I did not know you were going through this. I will say a prayer for you to get through it quickly.

Thank you so very much, JAM. I appreciate any and all the support and prayers I can get. If I get through this thing ok I should be back in stroke before tax time next year......

You're strong, Bill, and I know you'll get through this with flying colors. I will be sending good vibes your way!

Derby Cues

From the pics they look like a Samsara product. And I agree with the poster that Hall is a marketeer....not trying to imply any negativity, but he has been "affiliated" with plenty of brands.
These cues look good but Buddy could cut a twig off a tree and run out in his heyday. It's like Allison Fisher and her Cuetec. With all due respect I think that Cuetecs are some of the worst cues on the planet even considering their low prices. Here we see Fisher playing possibly the best pool ever for a female when she's on...with her Cuetec. Although, I've heard the rumors about her cues being nothing like a production model. Her Cuetec contract must be pretty sweet. Just my opinion, but I couldn't see any pro choosing a Cuetec because of performance or looks. So it's likely the same with Hall and Derby in the form of a fat piece of the action with probably a pretty decent hitter.

Derby

I'm also surprised by the complete lack of info on the website.....not even the pin or shaft taper info. Makes for a tough sell....inless the site is designed to troll for callers who are pleased with the aesthetics and are interested enough to make a call for the specifics. To me the wood and butt cap scream "Samsara"....which is a good thing.

IRONMAN, thanks a bunch for the kind words. It's great to be back, especially to let everyone know about my buddy-Buddy's new line of cues. They really are knocked out looking cues.......

I missed your posts Bill. Glad to have you back. You add a bit of credentials to this forum.

There still is a guy in Florida named TR and he is responsible for resurrecting the Derby Cue name.

TR McIntosh was Buddy's stakehorse for many years and his lifelong friend.

TR bought Rocky Tillis' business after Rocky had his stroke and Wayne Gunn was the cuemaker, the cues were called Derby Cues.

The cues are made by Joss (models 1 -6) and Samsara (models 7 - 12) for Buddy and TR.

The workmanship and playability is what you would expect from these two world class cuemakers and the price is being kept in a modest range ($300 to $1200) so they are afforable to all.
The inside info! Thanks Dick.
