Spit it out. You have something to say, say it and stop re-directing readers here and onepocket.org to your blog. You're as bad as Grady. Sheesh !

Freddy,

Man, it's tough watching a true friend waste away. I had to go thru it myself last year. Went to visit him in the hospice down in Fla. His son called and told me his Dad said to call and tell me to "Get my ass down here".

After I left he made it another 4 days.

It was all I could do to try and stay composed. I knew if he saw me getting upset, it would upset him too. That's the last thing I wanted at the time.

Like you two guys....we'd been thru thick and thin together. Like the old story goes...

"A friend you can call to come get you out of jail....a TRUE friend would be right there with you saying "I told you we shouldn't have did that" True story in our case........

You did the right thing going to see him, You don't need to be there for the end. Your a true friend Freddy, and I admire you for it.

Sounds to me like your the guy who needs to spit something out...

If you don't want to be 'redirected' don't copy and paste the link....it's that easy. He posted the contents of the post in the title, surely you must have seen it?

Why even click on the post to start with, if your not interested?

Seems pretty simple to me........

Freddy, a nice tribute sir.

Before I moved to the USA & joined AZB I was completely unaware of many of the true legends of the game. I have enjoyed learning about these people & their games. It is words like yours that allow them to live on & not be forgotten and for that sir, I applaud you.

My thoughts are with you.

Now, Doug. Please go get your coffee & come back with your real head on. That was not like you at all.

Look, I like Freddy and I like his posts. I wanted to read what he'd written but his link wasn't clickable, so I highlighted it in blue and went up to Edit and Copied it. I went up to the box at the top of my screen with big red Y and when I clicked on Edit again, Paste wasn't one of my options. I went to the box with the magnifying glass and once again clicked Edit and Paste wasn't an option. I grew frustrated and made my post.
Finally, I went back, put the cursor in the magnifying glass box and remembered to right click and get the box where Paste WAS an option and entered the url.

Edited to add: Great read and I now have Freddy's blog saved to my Favorites for easy access....

Additional Edit: I'm out of cream/milk for my coffee AND Jack Daniels. I'm going to the store(s) now and promise to be more clear headed when I post again. Thank God.

That's more like it, Doug. I almost had the same problem but I had hit the coffee pot already! Mind you, it was leftovers from yesterday so not that great. I did just buy more creamer though!

"but I just can?t bring myself to go back to the hospital anymore. Age and disease can make cowards of us all." Freddy

^^^^Thanks for going Freddy, and I agree with you, I couldnt go see my mom, dad or grand parents when they were like that, i'm the biggest coward there is in this circumstance, I dont go to funerals either-i'm just to weak.

Oy-Vey ! I May Just Go Drown Myself

While I'm apologizing for making an ass of myself this morning, I thought I'd add this addional stupidity:

I went to the Forums home page and looked under "Memebers that have visited the Forums today" to see if Freddy has been Logged In since I made my stupid morning post. I clicked on his name and along with showing that he hasn't been on since 8:51 a.m., he had a CLICKABLE link to his blog in his signature. Unfortunately, I have "Show Signatures" turned Off and don't see anyone's signatures (including my own)....

Doug
( now I feel even MORE stupid for being unable to access Freddy's blog... if that's possible )

I may just go back to bed and start over later.

Doug, luckily for you, you have built up so much credit through the years and the hundreds of humorous, clever posts, you can be forgiven for just about anything.

Standing by as a loved one in their final hours is noble, but we all grieve in our own ways. What I am trying to say is that strength or courage need not be measured by who is there and who is not. It is how you feel inside, how you go on and how you honor their memory that matters. The only weak people are the ones who feel nothing. I armire you for feeling so much.

Thanks Freddy, for sharing these details and helping me take a hard look at my own loyaly to friends.

forgot the "www."

I forgot to include "www." that would have made it a direct link to my blog. I have corrected that. We all make mistakes. You even left the "z" out in apologize. Since the old-time pool hustler's pension fund is not too generous (actually it's like zero dollars a month) I am going to periodically continue to lightly blow my own horn and mix in a few harmless commercials with my posts in the hopes that I might make a buck or so compensation for my 50 years in the industry, somewhere down the line. Seriously tho, all is forgiven, but the Grady comparison was a cruel catch. Mke Sigel, Deno Andrews or Kevin Trudeau would have been a little easier to digest.

here is the correct link: www.bankingwiththebeard.blogspot.com/
