bugs rucker

He put out a bank instruction video, but I don't think it's available anymore. There are bits and pieces of it on youtube. Accu-stats has three one-pocket matches with Bugs, they're all great. The one with him and Cornbread Red is awesome.

Freddy Bentivegna's book Banking with the Beard is my favorite book on banks and his dvd Banks that don't go but do is all kinds of fun.

Drive

It was actually three vids rolled into one. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced banks. I don't remember the name but it was something simple like the Chicago Bugs bank tape...something like that.

I used to have a lot of good stuff on an external hard drive...like 600gb of stuff. Then I dropped the drive one day and it quit working. :( I still have the drive but I haven't taken it to a tech place to see if they can extract the data and put it on another drive.

Pepper, def take that drive to a recovery place.... pretty sure you can recover that material... I had an external go bad, the guy said the 'wiper' in the drive gets damaged, but all the recorded stuff is still there on the 'platter'... unless that's damaged.

BTW, the word "Legend" gets overused a bit, but in Bugs' case it's on the money... man could he bank! I'd buy a DVD of those videos in a heartbeat.

if anyone is able to make a dvd of bugs stuff id be willing to buy it at a reasonable price
bugs and eddie taylor are considered to be perhaps the greatest bankers ever

When I was 16 I used to work the counter at a pool hall in the south suburbs of Chicago. The owner used to stake Bugs sometimes and they were good friends. He used to come in and hit them around. I've never seen anyone take any random stick and fire the balls in like he did. He was a pretty big man and had a huge wingspan. Truly one of the best all around players that I have seen. As much as I loved watching him, I hated cleaning up after him. Lol. He was brutal on the equipment. He always kept the chalk in his hand while he played. Blue chalk everywhere. Powder everywhere. I would love to see him play again.

Ha, too funny. I worked the counter at the same age on the north side of Chicago at the North Shore Billiard Club where Bugs visited often as he and Freddy were pretty good friends. He banked like most of us shoot straight in shots... seemed easy for him.

Here is a couple of exerts from Freddy's book "Banking with the Beard"

"One other thing of note, Fats was a hellova banker in his day. A young Bugs Rucker game him a ball, 8-7, and beat him in Johnston City. That wasn't anything to be ashamed of. Bugs could give just about anybody a ball"

"When Bugs played Fats, Joey Spaeth was staking him. A great player himself, Joey did not often back other players. However, Spaeth just came from Chicago where he had the misfortune to have played Rucker.

"Joey instantly became a convert to the Bugs Rucker fan club when, in a game of one-pocket, with Spaeth only needing one ball to win, and everything seemingly out of play, Bugs banked all of the remaining balls into his pocket to win the game. Joey had never seen anything like it before, and I personally have never seen or heard anything like it since"

I have it on a dvd I converted from a vhs. Someone at Red Shoes must have sold it to me around ten years ago.

Volumes 1,2 and 3. one hour and 25 minutes.

Since it is not for sale anywhere, do you guys think I ought to upload it to youtube so everyone can see it?
