Danny's mother bought him the Perfect Aim video when he was about 16 or 17 years old. She wanted to bring him to Wisconsin for a lesson but I was in Denver I think.

About 8 months later I saw Danny in Galvaston, Texas at that big World Tourny they had. Danny came up to me and told me it was his mother that bought him the video and I immediately remembered.

Danny told me that Perfect Aim was the nutz. I gave him a little lesson to make sure he really got the most from it. He is such a good kid.

When a player like Danny really understands this he has such an edge over the players that don't. Especially when it comes down to crunch time.

Danny immediately became one of my favorite players in this pool world of ours.

Going after Danny for the cash just doesn't seem right. Win or lose I feel like I'm trying to beat my own son.

Plus he just plays to darn good. His aim is just too Perfect....

I think Zach just needs to learn how to win when he's up. Seems he breaks even after being up quite often and that would indicate to me that he might be letting up once he has a lead. Not on purpose of course...

Did Zach play bad or did Ryan just stop missing every other shot like in the first ahead set of 9 ball they played. It was pretty easy for Zach to get in a comfy gear with no heat on him...

I'm sure it took a few sets to knock the ring rust off for Ryan, being a full time student is a brutal schedule. It's good to see he can still bring the Heat!

I have seen this for years... A player gets beat and someone starts woofing at them to go get more money and come back or starts badmouthing em as they walk out the door... I have never figured this out but it must work on some feeble minded suckers for it to happen as often as it does..

I've always figured it was a personal preference as who to do business with and as soon as someone starts woofing period I make a note and file it away.. I've never seen a woofer that didn't resort to other tactics during the match.. I always thought the old saying was "no honor among thieves" but maybe it needs amended because the whole woofing thing is getting really old....

Maybe it's a respect thing... Maybe it's a class thing... Maybe in this instance it's all good fun since you can't tell woofing from bantering reading a forum and Geno knows these guys..... IF it's the latter go get em Geno!!!!

My reply to this post....Just got to Sioux City, South Dakota. Only got 5 hours of sleep, drove 5 hours and this is the first chance I got to get on the internet. Sorry if that wasn't quick enough for you. I like to post almost everything that Zack does. It's always good to advertise when you lose so why wouldn't i want to post this on the thread.

Why would I want to have everyone think that Zach wins all the time? Then he might never get played as much.

It's hard to find someone to play $1000 sets.

zach was one set up the first night and 7 games ahead in the second. Only needed 2 more games ahead to win the second 9 ahead race.

I'd say that Ryan was very fortunate to come out of this the way he did. Would he have quit if he lost the second set ? I don't know.

The second day that zach played I wanted to pull him up after the first set.:deadhorse: He was missing everything and he admitted to me that he didn't hardly sleep all night.:banghead:

Got to get that sleep thing figured out. i think it has alot to do with those darn energy drinks he's drinking. And having that darn cell phone in bed with him.

These guys both played pretty bad the second day. Zach just played a little worse.

Don't worry though. You guys will get more action. Don't know when but we'll be back. But we will.

As far as quiting. If my horse is in a race and he looks like he has a broken leg I'm going to pull him out of the race. There was no contract to keep playing until he drops.

I was wondering why we didn't play thousand dollar sets the second day.

Zach told me your man only wanted to play for $200 or $300.

That's why i started betting $200 on the side with you Joe.

When i saw how bad Zach was playing and it was bad, I pulled up on the $200 bet and told Zach he was done also.

As far as i was concerned it was over.:shrug:

The kids played their hearts out and it was a good battle. I would have liked to see them play for $1000 the second day also. Put a little more heat on the game.

Who knows, we might have lost $5000.

But then again when i see my man go lame and missing straight in shots it probably wouldn't have gotten that far to a $5,000 loser.

If and when they play again the bet will be at least a thousand or they don't play. I can't see where that would be a problem on your end either.

In reading the various postings in this thread, I'm not convinced that you're actually building a champion regardless of whether it takes a month or two or longer.

What I see is a lot of micromanagement because Zach doesn't appear to have the judgement or the maturity to make the decisions in his own best interests. The example cited herein where Zach was playing poorly but kept on playing is proof of that.

The way I saw it they play pretty even with both of them shooting straight. Sounds like egos are involved now.

Personally I would have kept Zach off the streams and not allowed the internet railbirds to see his game at all.

As for the idea that Geno is micromanaging that is true to a degree. This appears to be a public experiment on what happens if an older experienced player travels with a younger inexperienced one. Part of building a champion is to put him into increasingly tougher games to learn how to fade the pressure and how to observe and learn from better players.

When you get to championship level you have to have learned how to bring your A game even when there is nothing left in the tank. If gambling you have to either manage the matches so that you agree to play only x-hours a day or play a certain number of sets and stick to it otherwise you run the very real risk of playing so much that you have no energy left at all. But pool players are notorious for matching up with no set times and just playing until someone quits.

I myself have had many sessions which lasted 12 hours or more. In fact a while back I had $500 a rack action playing one pocket, a truly sweet game for me, and I ruined it by playing way past my bedtime. Had I managed the sessions better then I am positive that I would have won much more than I did with a lot less pressure. So part of being a champion, which I am not, is in my opinion having the resolve and discipline to control the environment as much as they possibly can.

The question is whether Zach is actually learning any lessons or is just a road trip for him where he will still act like most young hotshots running around and gambling more for ego rather than for the goal of becoming a truly top player.
