Bumping Etiquette Question...

Problem solved. Good idea!!!!

there is a forum that i belong to that will only let you bump a thread once every three (3) days and the fs/wtb ads cannot be replied to directly, except by a pm to the seller. I like the fact that it eliminates the buddy bumping, and keeps the most recently posted ads near the top of the pile for at least a day or two. They also have sub categories for different things to eliminate having to wade through a ton of junk that you aren't interested in. While this might be an inconvenience to create sub categories for the forum creators, i think the end product makes it much better to navigate.

one more cent to add

Would it be a good thing to put this to a vote through a thread? We have
the option when you post a new thread that will allow such voting. I've
seen threads that ask yes or no to the idea of an item being later listed in
the raffle forum. Just an idea, but maybe if we have that sort of vote for
seperating forums, maybe the moderators would see how many of us
would like to see that here. Ryan

Bumping is a little out of control and a little annoying, but I don't think there are restrictions on bumpage.
Doesn't bother me, it is what it is.
What does bother me is sellers advertising their raffles in the WFS section.
I thought the purpose of giving raffles their own sub-forum was to get them out of the WFS.
The other thing that's bothering me is dealers with multiple sales threads,
that won't spend 30-bucks to be a club member.

Agreed that the sale/trade forum here is a cluster )&$@.

The Pa Gun Owners forum that your referring to has it wired. No excessive bumping and makes it impossible for sellers with multiple accounts and/or their buddies endlessly pimpin product in lame attempts to create demand/market.

A large volumn of product is sold, bought and traded there with minimal drama.

easy answer

I bump one time a week, sometimes two. I have given up on trying to stay on page 1, and people who know I want to buy usually just pm me anyway.

Sure, because everyone there is carrying a freakin' gun! :grin-square:

I’m a newbie here and I’m not trying to step on anyone’s toes. Here’s what I think would be an efficient way to break it down. Still limiting bumps to 1 per day or even better 1 per week. Scratch for sale, wanted or whatever and name it

Classifieds, with five (5) subsections

1. Tables for sale
2. Cues for sale.
3. Cue cases for sale
4. Accessories for sale. (tips, ferrules, glues, table covers, balls, racks, gloves etc)
5. Wanted (WTB)

It would definitely unclutter the whole thing. What do you guys think?

no bumps

i sell a few cues on azb and have never bumped any of them unless to answer a question or edit the listing.
i think the constant bumping is like the used car salesman trying to push you into buying something you really do not want, and sometimes the customer just goes ahead and buys the product to shut up the salesman. i think its very rude and screws up the for sale forum for everyone else.

another factor that causes threads to sink so fast is the sellers who start 6, or 8, or 10 separate threads to sell their wares. multiply that by only 3 sellers doing this, and everyone else is starting off on page 2.

if you have 5 items for sale, list them in the title of ONE thread, do not start 5 threads.

THAT and when they post something up for sale.... BUT somehow they "forget" to include a Price.

I dunno about you guys.... But That bugs me.
