Bumping rules are destroying sales - chime in...

I believe that the bumping rules are doing a lot to harm cue sales. I understand not being able to bump YOUR OWN thread. That is different. But for others to not be able to bump and say how nice a cue is, that they have seen and held or shot with the cue, or comment in any way on your thread - is detrimental. No one can comment on your cue for fear that the result is that the thread will be removed. It also seems like an opportunity to get a few guys together, and have them all bump someone else's thread to sabotage his sale if you have a beef with him. Just get his thread removed. It is also making the thread boring. Don't get me wrong - I am a daily user and love AZB. This is only my opinion on the subject. Please chime in.

I can agree with some aspects of this. I have wanted to comment on many cues I have seen in the for sale section, but haven't because I know it will bump it to the top and may cause others to get angry. I think that the OP and other members should be able to post comments without it getting bumped. This would allow for open conversation without it getting bumped every time. They could just add a bump button for the OP to use every 72 hours or so that way commenting will not bump the page. Just my .02.

While I agree with you this idea is hard to implement depending n the forum software they are using and the level of programming skill the mods/owner possess.

it's time for a revamp of the forsale section... Az has grown to the point that it needs to have that area split up and it needs a premium level.....

Oh...I agree with this.

Have a section for custom cues.
Have a section for production cues.
Have a section for $100 cues and under.

And have a section for the liars and cheaters and selling their used cues at retail prices.

I just shake my head when people advertise the retail price when in reality, no one ever pays retail. That is just a bullshit price for ripping people off.

That is very true. But it can be done. I have actually done web development before. I am curious to what software they use. I know you would have to go into the HTML code and alter it in order to get these results which could be easy, or damn near impossible. But I agree that they should expand the for sale section and alter it a tad bit. I would even be willing to put my own time in the helping this happen.

Unfair

Or go back to the way it was for the time being...

What ruined it was a circle of friends that kept commenting on each other's cues to keep them on page one. Most were all from the same area. I also miss not being able to comment ( in a positive way ) on select sale items for fear they will be deleted, but to revert back would just bring the bump group back again.

there are tons of plugins that could make the site better but I am starting to think AZ is an orphan...... I am not sure who they have in charge of the forum development but it's being ignored....

Or

Ding Dong. (Same as a Chime).

Whos there?

Bump.

Bump who?

I don't know, but your cue is sure nice and I wish that I had the money or I would buy it.

Wow! What a great cue and great price I can't believe this cue hasn't sold yet !

Bump

Go back to the old way and bump up yours or anyone you like, like it should be. Have az watch for swearing and people nocking the person and the product. And maybe sales and new products, cues, cases will increase, and bring larger and wider selection to all the forms. Because there are alot of sellers with alot of cues and good imput, knowledge, and helpful to others opinion or information, and locating what someone is looking for.And most important they can post on the forms so everyone can use this knowledge and info. poll?

Maybe we should make this bumping thread a poll question.

I have a question for other sellers - have you seen a decline in sales since things changed?

Bump

A very big decline, and if everyone likes the old way, start bumping this tread. Show your support and let the bumps begin, and cast your vote . THE AMERICAN WAY. Rich aka the skunk .

Az has grown to the point that it needs to have that area split up,
and it needs a premium level.....

will that be paid subscription, ie: $9.00 weekly, $30.00 monthly, ect.
or possibly included with an annual platinum membership?

have seen about a 30% drop.... breaking things up would likely fix it for me and adding a premium area would likely fix it for eveyone.... NOT talking big bucks but maybe 5 bucks a month makes you premium and you have an area that is not so congested....

I can assure you that the forums are not being ignored.

I will look into what is available as far as plug ins go, but anytime you would like to have all of the complaints for both sides of the argument emailed to you so that you can try to make everyone happy, please let me know.

Haven't been around for awhile, and been browsing the forsale section every now and then, but is it really true that by adding a complimentary comment to a selling post, I might be the cause of the thread being removed? Wouldn't like to harm anyones business, just want to add a few nice comments here and there.

What would also help is sold cues being removed or archived? Not sure why if someone sells their cue they can go in and edit to sold but can't delete the thread?

Bumping

If we had a vote, I'd vote for no bumping. In my opinion, we are all knowledgeable buyers. I don't need anyone to tell me the cue plays great and the person is a great guy. I do research on cue makers and members and send other members PM'S if needed to decide if I want to try a cue. I keep the for sale section open a lot everyday and what I hate is looking at the same 10 cues on the first page because they are being offered by old school members who have a lot of friends. No bumping keeps the playing field level for everyone and allows everyone to see more cues. Again just my opinion but I applaud the moderators for trying to stop the frivolous over bumping and making AZ a better place.
