Burned...

How about some good news Patrick.....your break cue is done and will ship out tomorrow......INSURED!

Really sorry to hear a genuine good guy on this forum got screwed over.
I'm going to refund you $20.00 as a buffer to the "getting ripped off" bullshit.
If anyone else wants to help a fellow Az'er out, maybe you can Paypal him $5.00-$10.00 or whatever. Some of us did this for jemerson23 who just had some medical issues and had a cue deal go sour at the same time. You never know when this kind of crap can happen to you and I really believe that if we act as a community here we can do some collective good for one of our own.....sorry if I got too preachy.

Rick you are the greatest!! It's crazy I have been dealing with a scammer on one transaction and then one of the best sellers on az on another, go figure. Thanks Rick and I cant wait to get my break cue!!!

Yeah its alot easier to assume the seller is on the up and up and the postal worker is the crook when 99.9999 percent of the time its the other way around:smile:

I don't think anyone was calling the postman a crook. The thing is stuff does end up missing on the post offices watch because postmen are not impervious to being scummy or misplacing stuff they are just people like everyone else. Case and point (what does that mean anyway" case and point?") Look at all the post office related crime which starts from petty theft to mass murder, just like any other person on the planet. I do agree with it usually being the seller 99% of the time it is the one with the most to gain which usually means the one with the money in there pocket, but anything is possible, even it being the buyer however unlikely w/o insurance.

I will say though after me and the USPS general accounting division figured it out I called my local post office to update them and they say "OH that’s why the shipping was only $1.70 for a 2.6lbs claimed package!?", but I still love and trust the good old USPS, I will just have to make sure I am protected up *** when shipping and receiving through them if you Google it there is still plenty of cases out there where it was someone that works for them.
Thanks for the post though. I understand your love for the USPS I have had hundreds of deals through them and this the only snag I have had and there only fault was being a little slow...

He probably crawled back under the rock he lives at.
J. Forney is a douche bag

Ya, that’s the thing, scammers don't fight very hard when caught they spend all the hard work on keeping the scam going. So Confidence Men (con men) say you can never con a completely honest person and the easiest person to con is a con man...

One more update guys Nycues has about 20 other accounts on here, which would be how he got his greenies back...

So I paid 265 for a tiger tcp2 butt from Nycustomcues seller on here and the package showed up empty with the lid missing, the postman just left it aside my door and was gone by the time I opened the door. The big problem is the seller did not insure the cue and did not offer insurance. So the seller claims the post office is saying the package felt 2lbs and the lid was on when they dropped it. There is no way the post office is going to refund my money and I am sure they are not evening looking for the cue. So I messaged NYcustomcues and explained that we need to come up with a resolution and I would even be ok with a half refund incase the post office screwed up and is covering there own butts, but NYcustomcues is not cooperating at all at this point. Since I never actually received my item and the seller didn't insure or offer insurance shouldn't they be responsible for at least half of the hit? Paypal is also no help I tried to file a case with them but they actually said they will not file the case. I completely feel taken for a ride as I waited for over a month for the post office and the seller to do what was right. The seller was assuring me that he had been through this before and the post office would find the cue and that if they didn't he would replace it. Now Nycustomcues isn't even returning my messages. I don't know, I have bought and sold some cues and other stuff on here and eBay and if I were the seller I would at least try to come up with a resolution where my customer didn't get completely screwed. Does anyone have any advice or has anyone had this happen before? Please don't think I am trying to drag NYcustomcues through the mud, I am not slamming him here, I am just telling sharing my experience and looking for some advice...

Without reading the rest of the several other pages of responses I just want to say right now, if you wanted insurance you should have requested it. It's not his job to offer you the world on a deal, he has a lot of things going on also and just because he forgot to offer you insurance its all his fault and none of yours because you forgot to ask for it? See what im saying? It's like 6 for half a dozen, he forgot to offer you forgot to ask.

Wrong!!! This guy is a consummate con artist....he has ripped people off here with multiple aliases. Maybe you should do the reading before making a post on this matter.

Since the insurance can only be purchased by the seller, he should be wanting to protect himself if he's on the up and up....but he's not. Also, as the seller, only he can request reimbursement on an insurance claim. He does a few good transactions and then goes in for the kill on those unsuspecting.

From your tone, I would suggest no one do business with you either, as your attitude to fairness is being read loud and clear. Or, perhaps this is just another one of Jeff Forney's aliases, seeing as you're privy to his busy schedule.

You should in the sticky on the for sale section about your experience as well....

Paul

I have started a new 'Beware of Jeff Forney' thread and have requested that it be made a permanent sticky in both this section and the Cue Machinery section, as he has been doing a lot of selling there as well.

Great job Lisa...and a wise move too! What a wanker  !!!, I red repped him too, although it did nothing...and if he has multiple accounts, he'll just switch to another...
Can't the mods look up who has been green repping and ban those accounts too?...That would at least slow this cod sack down...

In all honesty, he has many of his monikers banned, but he has so many more, not sure if the Mods can keep up. The guy is insidious, like Black Mold. Keeping him totally banned may well be a full time job. So...it forces it back on the membership here to be extra vigilant with their transactions. Back when I first started here, I used to start a thread, or ask a few highly trusted individuals about a seller/buyer before ever entering into a deal...saved my butt on a few occasions. Do not be afraid to ask!! The honest ones won't mind...only those with bad intentions will pitch a snit. And, there is always Escrow, for a nominal fee.

It is responsibility of the seller to buy insurance. It would not even enter my mind not to do that!!!!!!!! The deal is not final until the cue is in the hand of the purchaser. I would not expect the purchaser to ask for the insurance, it is implied!

Any honest person would behave just as you have described....only the dishonest ones would play this sort of game. I would never dream of not insuring an item....any item, going out. I want to make sure that both the purchaser and myself are protected in the event that something does go wrong. Thankfully, that has not ever been the case for me with the USPS, FedEx, or UPS.

mail fraud

Glad you thought to check the postage... Sorry for doubting you... just hard to believe that the USPS would have taken a package missing the lid...... I would definitely contact the postmaster general's office now since the loser has now perpetrated mail fraud and that's federal baby!!!!

I'll share a story in the hope that it helps others.
I found a cue on craigslist. It was in another state and in a town where I have friends who I occasionally visit. I offered to shoot some pool next time I came to town.
I offered to pay via paypal, but he requested a money order. As a result, I ended up with his address before the transaction was completed and I received the cue. I also had his phone number at that point.
After ample time, I tried to contact him to ask why the cue hadn't been delivered. He didn't take my calls, but rather emailed me. I was okay with that as it provided doumentation. He quickly told me it was lost by the post office. He had not insured or tracked it in any way. I asked him to discuss it with the post office before assuming it was lost. He offered to refund me via paypal and I refused. I told him that I wanted the cue and would wait to see if it showed up. Failing that, I told him I would not accept paypal and woudl only take a money order.
When he quit communicating I emailed and told him that blaming the post office without proof of shipment constitues mail fraud. I gave him some time to respond or mail the cue, telling him I would contact the authorities if neither happened. After no response, I started with my local police department. A detective who thought it was a civil matter decided to help. He asked if I wanted a refund ro the cue. I told him I preferred the cue. He called the seller, and guess what showed up?
The cue was poorly packaged, but it was insured and tracked. The envelope I mailed the money order in was used for a shipping label. It had been crumpled up at some point.
I'm still uncertain if I had any legal standing, but it worked out.
So was it a bluff or not?
