Just curious what someone would pay for a decent condition Burton Spain. Can't tell you much more about it. My dad has one sitting in the basement. It's been used and abused but the original design is georgous.

I seem to recall that Chris Hightower was looking for one in the worst way.

We are always looking to buy vintage cues like this. As most will tell you, the price would need to be very reasonable if the cue requires a lot of work. Please PM or email pics and what you are looking to get out of it......cueaddicts@hotmail.com If nothing else, I would be happy to advise you on what it's worth.

I would send pictures to joel hercek and 3 cue dealers and get retail -wholesale and real money prices on the cue ! and then see if you want to try to market it, or sell it wholsale. there is a market for his cues.just get as much info before moving it,and have fun!

Burton Spain blanks

I have a good friend who is a not so well known cuemaker, but has been making cues for about 25 years. Anyway, we were speaking about a week ago, and he stated that he had about half a dozen Burton Spain blanks that have never been turned into cues. My eyes popped out! I have been looking for a relatively plain (4 pointer) for about 4 years, but they always seem to be for sale when I don't have the money. I saw him again last night, and told him about this thread, particularly Chris' want for one, and as a cuemaker I didn't know if you were looking for a collectible completed cue, or as I am sure is the case, would jump on a chance to get hold of a blank.

We live in south Louisiana (near Lafayette), and he just got hit pretty bad by hurricane Rita (tree fell on his house). He's not strapped for cash or anything, but it sounds like he might let loose of one or two blanks.

Here's the big problem: He thinks he may be able to find the receipt from Burton to provide provenance, however, the only distinguishing mark on them is a notch that he believes Burton would put to ensure precise indexing when they were turned. They are solid birdseye maple, no splices, and he stated are around 30". This guy is a real straight shooter, and even without the paperwork, I believe him, but I don't know if that would make a difference to anyone unless there is a definite way to identify the blanks. I haven't contacted Joel Hercek to see if he could confirm them or not, as I don't have his contact information.

Also, I would like one for myself, but don't know what the blank, if confirmed either by receipt or Joel, would be worth. Any ideas out there? I also know of another cuemaker who claims to have a 4 point and a 6 point blank, but I would require the paperwork from him, as he is not as reputable in my eyes.

Thanks for any feedback.

I do have a few Spain Blanks myself and would require no documentation from the guy with spliced blanks. All I need is some close up pictures of the splices and joint end. I am not interested in any non-sliced blanks. PM me a price on the spliced blanks. If still interested I will want pictures.
