Butt too small?

Cue ball draw with this?
Silver Member
I received a new cue in the last month. The butt seemed quite small when I picked it up and started shooting with it. What is a ball park measurement for a good size butt? Jokes are welcome but I really would like to hear from some of our experts one here. Where to measure it. I have calipers so I can do this with proper instructions. Please advise.

Top of wrap = .96 inch diameter
Bottom of wrap = 1.19 inch diameter

Anything bigger than a size 7 is TOO big! (imo) and even with a size 7 the rest must be proportionate. (again imo).

Sorry I have nothing of anything remotely called help on your subject.

Too small-too big? Perhaps it depends on hand size? I have "pick up a basketball with one hand" hands...so yeah, some cue butts feel too small for me.

Most cues are about 1 inch at the top of the wrap, and around 1.8 at the bottom of the wrap. Then most are also .850 at the joint and around 1.250at the butt cap.

Now for a women, this is my idea of a nice Butt!! I mean baby got back!!

Now I hope this helps, oh and by the way, I can send my girls over to visit if you would like!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Thanks Manwon

My new stick's measurements.
Joint .85
Top Wrap .96
Bottom Wrap 1.19
Butt 1.24

Everthing pretty much matches except the bottom of the wrap it seems way out of proportion. It actually gets wider from the bottom of the wrap to the butt. The 1.8 at the bottom of the wrap in you measurements is not a misprint? Please advise.

The girls: please keep them occupied for me until I'm ready for them. I call you!!

It really depends on the maker. My Schon is slim for some, but I like it. My friends Schon feels the same as mine at the top of the wrap, but is +60mil bigger then mine at the end of the wrap so it feels thicker. Meuccis always seemed to have a big difference from front to back of wrap I have found....

My Schon measures....

.845 at the joint
1.015 at top of wrap
1.200 at bottom of wrap

Maybe it was built for Arnold of Different Strokes?
That would be some whippy cue for me.

It did feel whippy, so to say. Very stiff too! It's bocote and I was told it was that way because Bocote is heavy and to get it to the weight I wanted it had to be slim. That makes sense but there must be another way. I don't believe all Bocote cues are this slim. Is this a valid belief?

Is the whole butt made of bocote?

I think a lot of exotic wood cues are cored with maple to help offset the weight.

question

Who made the cue? I like the thinner handle cues myself. I know some Espiritu, Frey, Whisler and Scruggs cues are thinner in the butt section.
I believe your typical butt size is 1.250 at the butt cap.

If you core bocote, you ought to get a ticket.

Are you saying that Bocote should not be cored? This was the suggested solution but I have not made the decision to send it back yet. That is why I have you guys. All this knowledge I love it. Thanks in advance.

It was my understanding that you core the wood to stablize it even more from wrarping. But I can see where you can do it to gain the proper weight when using heavy or light woods.

My Samsara butt is much thinner feeling than my Joss, the Joss seems to be tapered all the way down the butt, where the Samsara grip is the same diameter throughout. Maybe you are used to playing with a standard older butt size, where quite a few of the newer styles are thinner.
