I am not sure if I should buy a revo shaft now for breaking or wait 1 year for predator to release their new BK4 with a revo shaft?

I would wait for the BK4. I'm pretty sure the shaft will be a little different from the playing version

Why would it? I break with my Revo shafts, and have for over a year with no problems.

I have tried a Revo shaft with a synthetic break tip and in my opinion the shaft need some sort of dampening to it before it would replace the current maple based break shafts. The revo breaks great with a leather tip though. I liked it a lot but I would think that Predator aims for an all out technology powerhouse with the next generation break shaft, including a phenolic like tip for more efficient energy transfer. In my opinion the current version is not quite ready for the BK4 in its current form.
There is definitely a lot if potential in Revo carbon shafts for incredible break cues with some minor adjustments

Just my own thoughts though

I bought a 2nd 12.4mm Revo just for breaking. I'm tired of all the thick break shafts. I put a Samsara b/j Tip on it & it's a monster. Actually snapped the 8 in on my 1st break with it. Best break cue I ever had. Matched it up with the black sport 2 with the rubber grip wrap.

My feeling is buy the Revo now and use it as your break stick. That way you are breaking (sans a harder tip) with the same cue as your playing cue. And that familiarity helps.

I have 2 Classicos and 3 Revo shafts. The 2 playing shafts have a soft G2 cue tip and the one break cue has a samsara. I even had seyberts engrave a BK on one the classicos. Right now it doesn't matter since I have both my classicos at the same weight. But in case I want to change that, that will help me keep track.

G2 has a much better reputation than the victory tips but is quite similar in some ways. Their durometer scores are almost the same and both are 8 layer tips.

Interesting topic as I never considered breaking with the Revo. I have both....bought the 12.4 out of curiosity however I'm not playing with it for now. If it should sit maybe maybe I'll use it for a breaker. However I have dedicated break cues,

I did read somewhere (maybe someone can help me out) that the new Bk4 will have a dedicated break shaft and not one of the current Revo's with a break tip.

Last I heard they were going to make a revo break shaft & another smaller diameter shaft, something in the 11.85 range I believe possibly geared more for SNOOKER. I didn't hear anything about the next breaker being a Revo Shaft.

I personally feel the shaft now is great for breaking, just throw a break tip on it. I choose a 12.4mm Revo to break with because I was tired of all the 13+mm break shafts. If you ask anyone that I shoot with they will tell you it improved greatly. I only play 8 ball & I pot balls on every break consistently now & I even snapped the 8 in on my 1st break with it. Have come within half to 2 inches of snapping it in on many occasions since.

Fwiw, I do shoot with the 12.4mm as well.

Question for you Scott, I have a two Revo Shafts 12.9mm and love the way it plays. I use a Kamikaze Soft tip on both (my favorite tip) Do you think breaking will make the tips harder... Heck, this may be a better question for Kamikaze....

The BK4 is phenomenal. Wait for it. I've tested it.

Predator released it's BK Rush w/ REVO shaft. Why would Predator release a BK4, unless it's a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Rush.

I'm pretty sure people saying BK4 were just assuming that Predator would just stay with the numerical sequence and call it a BK4. I'm pretty sure the BKRush is all that's coming out now.
