Buyer Beware of "the_general"

Sounds like a bunch of crap to me. You mean you are somewhat happy to have paid good money for a custom cue that you specced out and waited that long and you got a cue that is a piece of SH_T and not to your specs at all?

You received a bad cue and you are saying that is a glimmer of hope?

I really don't understand that at all.

I would like to offer a glimmer of hope to all of those out there like me who purchased bebot cues from "the general" and who are still fighting for their cues or refunds. After more than 6 months of lies, excuses, broken promises, begging, pleading, and angry emails, I finally received a cue from "the general" this week. It is not the custom cue which I ordered, however at least it is something.

Here is a comparison between some of the specifications I requested and paid for, and what I actually received:

Ordered: tiger maple wrapless handle
Received: ashwood handle

Ordered: 0.9" ferrule
Received: standard ferrule

Ordered: 1x1 hard case
Received: soft case

Those are just a few examples. There are other differences as well between what was requested and what was actually delivered. In addition, there are some problems with the cue. The splicing for example does not appear to have been done correctly, as the cue is not smooth to the touch when you run your hand across it.

I don't think the cue is worth what was paid for it, but at this point, with everything that occurred, and considering that so many others have yet to receive anything, I am happy to have something and I am just relieved that this NIGHTMARE of an experience is finished. I am grateful that "the general" did finally take some responsibility, and did not completely disappear from the situation.

Over the many months of dealing with him, I heard every excuse in the book from "the general," including gems like: he could not issue me a refund because the money I sent for the cue had already been used to pay for his daughters' schooling. :mad:

I think the way all of us have been treated by both parties is unacceptable. For the most part, we have been bombarded by excuses and stories of victimization. I realize that there are several sides to the story, and I also realize that there are scams and shady characters in every country of the world, however, this experience has completely turned me off to making any more international purchases.

I just hope that "the general" and bebot do the right thing and I hope somehow that everyone who is STILL waiting will be compensated. I also wish the best to all the other AZ-ers who were victims too and hope this is a sign that you will be receiving something too.
 
Well considering all the crap I went through to get it, at this point, it's better than nothing, so what choice do I have but to accept it? It's not like I can return it and have them fix it. Oh well, hard lesson learned.

It is not my intention to do anything more than warn future buyers from doing business with the_general.

I requested a pair of cues last April. Two sister cues for my son in the Navy and myself. We ordered two identicle wrapless cues except the handles were made of different material. We ordered both cues with extra shafts and paid $1000 dollars, in advance, to Les. His itrade was perfect with orders being shipped every week. I was promised the cues in 5 months at the latest.

At the six month period, I was told the rain was delaying the production. Then the same at 9 and 12 months. He sent me pics of the handles and promised me them by late april/early may.

Recently he stated he wanted to do something......anything to satisfy his obligation but please give him more time.

Communication has been zero for the last three weeks and I feel I should warn anyone else of this fraud and scam.

My patience has ended and I expect my investment is lost so I want to warn others of my dealing with "the_general

I have no personal issue, I tried to be patient but I'm sure we can all agree this man is a menace and has been living off the prepayments of AZ members for over a year now. And this has to stop.

I hope my cues arrive some day. They have been paid in full for 14+ months now

this ever get resolved? it's always scary doing business with people that aren't in the states.

i hate to say it but i don't think i'd do any kind of business with anyone in the PI. with the exception of maybe 3 people
 
I think that Bebot and his son Mervin are good people and would not rip anyone off intentionally. Their life depends on making cues as good as possible for a reasonable price.

I feel bad for them being in this mess and I think they will make it as right as they can for everyone that got ripped off for cues that were ordered via The_General.

I do hope that AZ continues to allow Bebot Bautista and Mervin to sell cues here knowing that their lives depend on their reputation as cue makers and serving their customers.
