Buyers Beware of Pathman

Any communication fron HOTDOGG in terms of what he wants to do?

To RACKEM,

I don't think the case was described as NEW.
I'm SURE Mike didn't know about the "imperfection".
He is still waiting to hear from HOTDOGG.

What are you talking about.  Look at the Pathman post I quoted. He does call it both new and like new. I doubt that those cuts were there since manufacturing. My guess is they occured when a right handed person dragged it across a trunk latch. Who did it does not matter. If Hotdogg is not satisfied as is. The bottom line is he should pay the return shipping with insurance and the $375 should be refunded. In otherwords split the shipping.

guys,

mike has been dealing cues since ive been in diapers.

he has had a top notch rep for 20+ years.

for you guys to jump in and tell him what to do is a joke.

he already stated the guy NEVER asked for a refund, and dogg agreed.

DOGG even stated he loved the case!

a post like this really shows who the nits are.

Why don't you try reading all the comments in this thread before you open your internet mouth. I really agree with your last statement though.

Here would be my verbatim reply... food for thought to all sellers.

Dear sir,
Sorry to hear of the problem that you report. I was completely unaware of the said discrepancy, and duly apologize for the oversight. As per my standard terms, I offer A 100% refund less shipping if not completely satisfied. In this case, however, whereby I overlooked the flaw, I will also cover the return shipping cost. Please advise as to where you would like the refund sent, so that same day return arrives, I will courier the refund to you (my dime). I believe that even with the flaw, this is a good deal on this case, and certain that I can sell it for equal to what you paid, so unfortunately, I cannot offer a reduction if you retain the case. Once again, I am very sorry about the oversight, and I look forward to your reply. I hope to work with you in the future and will do my level best to make our next transaction flawless.

Thats perfect and professional, unless you are willing to offer a reduction/partial refund, in which case the letter could be slightly modified. All sellers should use a similiar letter, good advice.

Mike,
I wrote this possible reply based on this particular transaction, wherein it seemed to me an abated price with retention was not to the seller liking...
but certainly if this information was not known, that would be included or excluded depending on the desire of the seller. Thanks your input.

Something like this from Pathman certainly would have preempted this entire thread, but as it is, this thread did a good service to the buyers here regarding how at least one seller operates.

Just playing devil's advocate here guys....

I've had an intance or two when we offered a full refund when a buyer expressed initial dissatisfaction, but they refused a full refund and agreed to keep the cue. One even chose several months later to post a flame about the "negative experience" with us. I mean, WTF...

If you don't sell many things, then I can tell you from experience that you honestly have no idea how flaky some buyers can be. We've had deals where buyers have wanted a new shaft on a new cue remade over 0.003" runout. You can't even freakin see that....let alone notice it. Cues are man-made products and made of woods....rarely if ever is anything "PERFECT". Same goes for leather cases.

When I look at Bogey's pictures, I see imperfections in the leather which look like a slit about 4-5" up from the bottom of the pocket along the side. Who's to say it isn't something in the leather. From the shitty pics provided in this thread, I'm not convinced it's been cut. It may have been a "second".

At any rate, we don't know what has taken place in the communication between the two parties. Who's to say that maybe 'hotdogg' has refused the refund ??? After all.....we all weren't privy to all of the ins and outs of the deal....only what we've read.

Maybe this will result in a refund, maybe it won't. Who knows??

But for some people to presume to say 'pathman' should do this or shouldn't do that without being a party to the deal....well, you simply don't have all the facts and shouldn't sit in judgement. I don't ever recall seeing a thread lambasting 'pathman' over something like this, so saying you wouldn't deal with him is just plain shitty IMO.

Hopefully it will work out for both parties where they can wash their hands of this. What's truly a shame is that it had to be posted here for whatever reason.

Just my thoughts.

I think some have made that judgment not to do business with Pathman because of the way he has handled himself in this thread. Insulting people, calling people Barney Fife and Judge Wapner LOL:D because they didn't see things his way speaks volumes to some. I was going to add Barnaby Jones to the Sleuth list too oops I just farted Also, I just recently installed a 13" flat panel TV in my bathroom and I love it... :p

True, but we all know that when put in "defensive mode" we have all said and done things perhaps not in the best way......

He probably got all geeked when it came and in a hyper way hacked at the package and butchered up the case....

since when does anyone cut open a long box with DIAGONAL strokes??? and in the middle of the box, no less,,,instead of at it's ends!!

you're jumping to conclusions

Perhaps, but one would hope that a customer-oriented salesman would be aware of the potential audience here and formulate his response accordingly. What really happened with the case? Who knows. I am not rooting for either guy, but Pathman's replies in this thread do not win me over as a future customer.

After reading the post you quoted I stand corrected.

Continue reading subject post and note that HOTDOGG was given the return option.

For some reason this drags on....

I refunded money one time on a case for the simple fact the guy said he just didn't like it. Nothing was wrong, he just didn't like it even after seeing very good detailed pictures before the sale....go figure.

My point is you have to roll with the bad as well as the good because it only takes one to raise a big over the top fuss ( not aimed at either party in this argument).

You can have 100 or even 500 perfect sales and all it takes is just the one to have people question how you do business. It's not worth it, just chalk it up and refund the money with a smile on your face. ;)

Case Closed

An agreement has been reached and problem is resolved. No more hard feelings between Mike and I. It was just a bout of misunderstanding and miscommunication.

Hottdogg and Pathman,

I just want to say I am happy this ended up getting resolved. Frankly, I began to feel very badly for both Hottdogg and Pathman and I wish this thread never happened in the first place. For some reason I seemed to get pulled into this dispute and in no way did I want to get more involved than my initial post.

Now, I hope we can all walk away with not too many hard feelings and chalk it up to a lesson learned for everyone involved. My hope is that Hottdogg kept the case and uses it for the next 20 years.

I also believe that Pathman is an honest and forthcoming individual and did kick into a defensive gear as Sean suggested.

Chris

This ongoing post is great example of why I NEVER want to be tried by jury, everone had/has their own opinion of what happened when the truth is that only two people were involved in the transaction, IMO in the beginning NO ONE should have gotten involved, if their is a problem, work it out among yourselves boys, know one wins when laundry is done in public..........
